How to use the Venmo Fee Calculator
Choose a mode: fee on an amount, or the amount to charge to net a target.
Enter the amount.
Pick the transaction type; tick Edit rates if your app shows a different fee.
Press Calculate fee to see the fee and what you receive.
Use the table to compare other amounts.
Venmo fee formulas
Fee = amount × rate + fixed fee, then raised to the minimum or capped at the maximum if one applies
Goods & services and instant transfers: the fee comes out of the money you receive, so received = amount − fee
Credit card payments: the sender pays the fee on top, so the card is charged amount + fee
Amount to charge to net X = (X + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − rate), adjusted for any minimum or maximum
Example: to receive $200 from a goods & services payment at 2.99%, ask for $200 ÷ 0.9701 = $206.16 (the fee of $6.16 is rounded to the cent).

Because instant transfers are capped at $25, the effective rate drops on large transfers: moving $5,000 instantly costs $25, or 0.5%. If you can wait 1–3 business days, the standard transfer is free.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the Venmo goods and services fee?
The default here is 2.99% of the payment, paid by the seller. On a $100 sale the fee is $2.99 and you receive $97.01. Business profiles can have different rates; tick Edit rates to match yours.
How much does a Venmo instant transfer cost?
Instant transfers cost 1.75% of the amount, with a minimum fee of $0.25 and a maximum of $25. Standard transfers that take 1–3 business days are free.
Does Venmo charge for credit card payments?
Yes. Sending money funded by a credit card costs the sender 3%. Sending from your Venmo balance, a bank account or a debit card is free.
How do I make sure I receive the full amount?
Use reverse mode. For a 2.99% fee, divide the amount you want by 0.9701: to net $200, charge $206.16.
Why use goods and services instead of a personal payment?
Goods and services payments can qualify for Venmo's purchase protection, while payments between friends usually do not. The seller pays the fee for that protection.
Is this calculator from Venmo?
No. It is an independent estimate that runs in your browser. Venmo can change its fees, so check the fee shown in the app before you confirm a payment.
