Quota attainment formulas
Attainment % = sales ÷ quota × 100
Gap to quota = quota − sales (0 once quota is reached)
Required sales per day = gap ÷ remaining selling days
Current pace = sales ÷ selling days elapsed
Projected sales = sales + current pace × remaining days
Straight-line plan to date = quota × days elapsed ÷ total days
Example: a $300,000 quarterly quota, $185,000 closed and 40 of 63 selling days used. Attainment is 61.7%, the gap is $115,000 and 23 days remain, so you need $5,000 per day. The current pace is $4,625 per day, which projects to $291,375 (97.1%), so the daily rate must rise by about 8.1%.

Tips for closing the gap
Compare the gap with weighted pipeline. Multiply late-stage pipeline by your win rate; if the result is below the gap, you need new opportunities, not just faster closes.
Look at deal timing, not just pace. One large deal can move attainment more than weeks of steady activity, so list the specific deals that can close before the period ends.
Check accelerators. If your plan pays more above 100%, the table shows exactly what it takes to reach the next tier.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate quota attainment?
Quota attainment = sales achieved ÷ quota × 100. For example, $185,000 closed against a $300,000 quota is 61.7% attainment.
How do I work out the sales I need per day?
Required daily sales = (quota − sales so far) ÷ remaining selling days. With a $115,000 gap and 23 selling days left you need $5,000 per day.
How is the projected attainment calculated?
The calculator assumes your current pace continues: projected sales = sales so far + (sales so far ÷ days elapsed) × days remaining. It is a straight-line run-rate estimate; deal timing in most sales teams is lumpy, so use it as a guide.
What does ahead or behind plan mean?
If the quota were earned evenly across the period, you would expect quota × (days elapsed ÷ total days) by now. The difference between your actual sales and that figure shows whether you are ahead of or behind a straight-line plan.
Should I count calendar days or business days?
Use business days if your team sells mainly on weekdays. In date mode, tick 'Business days only' to skip Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are not removed automatically; use selling-days mode to enter an exact count.
What is a typical quota attainment?
Attainment varies a lot by company and how quotas are set. Many sales organizations aim to set quotas so that a majority of reps reach 100%, but actual results differ widely, so compare yourself with your own team's history.
