How the page count is estimated
The preview lays your document out at the exact content width of the PDF: (paper width − 2 × margin) × 96 ÷ 25.4 CSS pixels. On A4 with 15 mm margins that is 680 px wide, and each page holds (297 − 30) × 3.78 ≈ 1009 px of content. The estimated page count is the rendered height divided by that page height, plus any forced breaks from --- lines or H1 headings. Dashed orange lines in the preview mark where each new page begins.
Frequently asked questions
Which Markdown features are supported?
Everything in CommonMark plus GitHub Flavored Markdown: headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, links, images, block quotes, ordered and bulleted lists, task lists with [ ] and [x], tables with column alignment, inline code and fenced code blocks, and horizontal rules.
How do I start a new page?
Choose "Page break on ---" and put a line with three dashes where the new page should begin, or choose "New page before every H1" so each top-level section starts on its own page. You can also insert <div style="page-break-before: always"></div>.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Markdown is converted with marked and turned into a PDF with html2pdf.js, both running in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.
Can I use HTML inside Markdown?
Yes, simple HTML such as <br>, , <kbd> or <details> works. For safety the output is cleaned with DOMPurify, so scripts, event handlers, iframes and forms are removed.
Is the PDF text selectable?
html2pdf.js creates the PDF from a high-resolution snapshot of the preview, so it looks identical to what you see but text cannot be selected. If you need searchable text, use Download HTML and print it to PDF from your browser.
Why don't some images show in the PDF?
Images hosted on other websites appear only if their server allows cross-origin access. Use images from sites that allow it, or embed small images as data: URLs.
