Tips for great-looking flipbooks
Use single pages, not spreads. Export the PDF with one page per sheet; the viewer pairs pages into spreads itself. With "Cover page shown alone" on, page 2 and 3 appear side by side just like a printed magazine.
Keep an even page count for printed-style books so the back cover ends up alone on the left.
All pages the same size. The flipbook uses the proportions of the first page; pages with other sizes are fitted inside it.
Pick quality for your audience. Phone readers benefit from smaller files; designers showing portfolios on big screens may prefer Very high.
Offer the PDF too. Flipbook pages are images, so add a download link to the original PDF for printing, searching and accessibility.
Flipbook uses
Page-turning flipbooks work well for product catalogs, restaurant menus, school yearbooks, real-estate brochures, event programs, comics, photo albums, portfolios and newsletters: anything that was designed as pages and benefits from being browsed like a printed publication.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn a PDF into a flipbook?
Choose the PDF above. Its pages are rendered as images and shown in a page-turning viewer straight away. When you are happy with it, press Download flipbook ZIP to get an HTML version you can open offline or upload to a website.
How do I put the flipbook on my website?
Unzip the download and upload the whole folder (index.html plus the pages folder) to your web hosting, then link to index.html. To show it inside another page, use an iframe such as <iframe src="my-flipbook/index.html" width="100%" height="600" allowfullscreen></iframe>. The README file in the ZIP includes this snippet.
Does the exported flipbook need internet access?
No. The ZIP contains the page images and an HTML file with the viewer code inside it, so it also works from a USB stick or a local folder. When the StPageFlip library can be downloaded during export it is embedded in the HTML; otherwise the built-in page-turn viewer is used.
Will links and text in my PDF still work?
No. Each page becomes an image, so text cannot be selected and links inside the PDF are not clickable in the flipbook. Keep the original PDF available as a download if readers need to copy text or follow links.
Which page quality should I choose?
High (1400 px wide pages) suits most brochures and magazines on laptops and tablets. Choose Very high for small print, maps or large screens, and Standard to keep the ZIP small for long documents. Higher quality means larger files and slower loading on mobile connections.
Is there a page limit?
Up to 400 pages are converted. Very long or very high-quality books use a lot of memory in the browser, so for large catalogs Standard quality is recommended.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is rendered and packaged entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server, and the flipbook has no watermark.
