How to use the PDF to WEBP
Add your PDF by dropping it into the box, clicking to choose files, or pressing Try it with a sample PDF.
Choose a resolution: 96 to 150 DPI is plenty for web pages, 300 DPI for print-quality detail.
Set the WEBP quality with the slider: 75 to 85 gives small files with clean text.
Pick the pages with the checkboxes or type a range like 2-5,8.
Press Convert to WEBP, check the file sizes, then download single pages or click Download all as ZIP.
Pixel size of a PDF page at each DPI
PDF pages are measured in points (72 points = 1 inch). The width of the WEBP image in pixels is page width in points ÷ 72 × DPI, and the same for the height. A US Letter page is 612 × 792 points, so at 150 DPI it becomes 612 ÷ 72 × 150 = 1275 pixels wide and 1650 pixels tall.

Choosing the WEBP quality
The quality slider controls how much detail the lossy WEBP encoder keeps. Text pages compress extremely well because most of the page is flat white, so even high settings stay small.

Tips for great PDF to WEBP results
Size images for where they appear. A page shown 800 pixels wide on a website only needs about 96 DPI; doubling the DPI roughly quadruples the pixel count.
Use the sample first. The built-in sample has text, a bar chart and shapes, so you can watch how quality and DPI change the file size before converting your own document.
Keep a lossless copy if you will edit later. Re-saving a lossy image adds artifacts each time. Use PDF to PNG for a lossless master.
Going the other way?WEBP to PDF combines WEBP images back into a single PDF.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to WEBP?
Drop the PDF into the converter, choose a DPI and a quality level, select the pages and press Convert to WEBP. Each page is rendered to an image and encoded as a separate .webp file that you can download alone or together in a ZIP. No account or watermark is involved.
What WEBP quality setting should I use for PDF pages?
For pages that are mostly text, quality 75 to 85 keeps letters crisp while the file stays small. Use 90 or more if the page has fine lines, small print or gradients you want to keep perfect, and 50 to 65 when the smallest possible thumbnail matters more than detail.
Is WEBP smaller than PNG or JPG for PDF pages?
Usually yes. Google's published comparisons report lossy WEBP files about 25 to 34 percent smaller than JPG at similar visual quality, and lossless WEBP about 26 percent smaller than PNG. For scanned or photo-heavy pages the saving over PNG is often much larger.
What DPI do I need when converting PDF to WEBP?
The pixel size equals the page size in inches times the DPI. A US Letter page at 96 DPI becomes 816 × 1056 pixels, which suits most web layouts. 150 DPI gives 1275 × 1650 pixels for sharp reading on high-density screens, and 300 DPI is for printing or zooming in.
Can WEBP images from a PDF have a transparent background?
Yes. WEBP supports an alpha channel. Tick Transparent background and areas of the page with no content stay see-through. Many PDFs paint a white rectangle behind the page, and that part stays white because it is real page content.
Is there a size limit for WEBP images?
The WEBP format allows at most 16383 pixels on each side. If a very large page such as a poster at a high DPI would exceed that, the converter scales it down to fit and notes it on the page card.
Are my PDF files uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is opened by the pdf.js engine inside your browser and each page is encoded to WEBP by the browser itself. Your files and the images never leave your device.
