Turn any savings goal into a chart you color in: coins in a jar, a grid of squares or a fundraising-style thermometer. Choose the goal and what each cell is worth, color cells in here as you save, and print a one-page PDF for the fridge.

How to use the Savings Tracker Printable
Pick a style: jar, grid or thermometer.
Enter your goal and how much each cell is worth, or tap a quick goal such as $1,000 by $20 (50 cells).
Choose cell values: all the same, or mixed amounts for a challenge-style chart. Shuffle until you like the mix.
Color in cells on screen as you save, or leave it blank to color by hand.
Download the PDF and print it at 100% scale. Untick shading to print a clean, uncolored chart.
Picking a goal and cell size
The number of cells decides how often you get to color one in. Too few and the chart sits unchanged for weeks; too many and it feels endless. A good target is one or two cells a week.

Weekly pace = goal ÷ 52 weeks. To find a deadline-based amount, use a savings goal calculator first, then set each cell to your weekly or per-paycheck saving.
Ideas for using a color-in tracker
Emergency fund. Many people start with a first goal of $1,000, then build toward three to six months of essential expenses.
Sinking funds. One chart each for car repairs, holidays, insurance deductibles or back-to-school, kept on the fridge or in a budget binder.
Kids' savings. Use the jar with $1 or $5 coins so children see progress with every allowance.
No-spend days. Set each cell to what you would usually spend on a takeout lunch and color one in every day you skip it.
Group goals. The thermometer works for a family trip or a class fundraiser, with running totals that are easy to read across the room.
Frequently asked questions
How many cells will my savings tracker have?
Cells = goal ÷ amount per cell, rounded up. A $1,000 goal at $20 per cell gives 50 cells; $5,000 at $50 gives 100. If the goal does not divide evenly, the last cell holds the remainder, so the cells always add up exactly to the goal. Mixed mode uses 1 to 5 times the base amount per cell, so it has fewer cells.
Which style should I choose?
The jar works well for 20 to 150 coins and is popular with kids. The grid fits the most cells (up to 400) and suits big goals like an emergency fund. The thermometer shows running totals up the side and is great for family or group goals, and for up to about 100 steps.
What are mixed amounts?
In mixed mode each cell is worth 1 to 5 times your base amount, shuffled across the chart, and the total still equals your goal. You color in whichever cell matches what you saved that day, which makes it feel like a challenge and lets you save more on good weeks and less on tight ones.
Can I use this for paying off debt?
Yes. Set the goal to the debt balance and color in a cell for every payment of that size. Rename the goal, for example "Credit card paid off", so the chart celebrates the balance going down.
Does the tracker save my progress?
Your settings and colored cells are saved in this browser's local storage, so you can come back and color more in on the same device. Nothing is uploaded. Download the PDF with shading turned on to keep a printed copy of your progress.
How do I print it at the right size?
Open the PDF and print at 100% or Actual size on US Letter or A4, whichever you chose. Fit to page also works because the chart is centered with margins. A light color like the default green leaves the amounts readable after you color over them with a pencil or highlighter.
