When a URL is both written in the text and covered by a link annotation, Unique mode merges the two into one row and tags it with both sources.
Good uses for a PDF link list
Check a report before publishing. Scan the list for outdated domains, staging servers or links whose text does not match the target.
Audit references and citations. Export the CSV and open it in a spreadsheet to test every link or record which sources a paper cites.
Spot suspicious links. In an unexpected PDF, compare the Link text with the URL. A button that says one thing but points to an unfamiliar domain is a classic phishing sign. Avoid opening links you do not trust.
Collect resources. Course packs and ebooks often list dozens of web resources; copy them all at once instead of clicking one by one.
Need the full text too? Use PDF to Text. To pull URLs from any plain text, try the URL Extractor.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract all links from a PDF?
Drop the PDF into the box above. The tool reads every page, lists all clickable links and URLs found in the text with their page numbers, and lets you copy the list or download it as a CSV or TXT file.
What is the difference between a link and a URL in the text?
A link is a clickable area (a link annotation) placed over the page, often over words like Click here. A text URL is an address printed on the page, such as www.example.com, that may or may not be clickable. The tool finds both and shows which kind each entry is.
Why does a link show a different address than the text?
A clickable link can point anywhere, regardless of the words under it. The URL column shows the real target and the Link text column shows the words the link covers, which helps you spot misleading or outdated links.
Can it find email addresses?
Yes. mailto links and email addresses written in the text are listed as Email entries. Untick Emails to hide them.
What are internal links?
Internal links jump to another page in the same PDF, such as entries in a table of contents. They are hidden by default; tick Internal links to list them with their target page.
Why are some links missing?
URLs that are split across two lines, written as images, or stored in scanned pages cannot be read as text. Links inside attached files are not scanned either. Run OCR on scanned PDFs first.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is read by JavaScript in your browser and never leaves your device.
