Yes or No Wheel
Type your question, spin the wheel and let it decide. The answer is picked with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, so every spin is fair, and you can add a Maybe or change the odds.

How to use the Yes or No Wheel
- Type a question that can be answered with yes or no (optional).
- Spin the wheel: click it, press the Spin button, or focus the wheel and press Space or Enter.
- Read the answer where the pointer stops. It is also announced for screen readers.
- Change the odds if you like: add Maybe or drag the weight sliders. Segment sizes update instantly.
- Check the history to see past questions and the yes/no tally. Press Clear history to start over.
How the odds work
Each answer's probability is its weight divided by the sum of all weights: P(answer) = weight ÷ total weight. The wheel draws every answer with an area of exactly that share, and the stopping point is picked uniformly at random around the circle, so what you see is what you get.
| Weights (Yes / No / Maybe) | Yes | No | Maybe |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 / 5 / – | 50% | 50% | – |
| 5 / 5 / 5 | 33.3% | 33.3% | 33.3% |
| 5 / 5 / 2 | 41.7% | 41.7% | 16.7% |
| 7 / 3 / – | 70% | 30% | – |
| 3 / 1 / – | 75% | 25% | – |
| 9 / 1 / – | 90% | 10% | – |
What to expect over many spins
Random does not mean evenly alternating. With a 50/50 wheel, streaks are normal: in 10 spins the chance of getting at least three of the same answer in a row is about 83%, and getting exactly 5 Yes and 5 No happens only about 25% of the time. Over hundreds of spins the counts in the stats panel settle close to the configured percentages.
| Spins (50/50) | Expected Yes | Range that covers at least 95% of results |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 5 | 2 – 8 |
| 50 | 25 | 18 – 32 |
| 100 | 50 | 40 – 60 |
| 1,000 | 500 | 469 – 531 |
Good ways to use a yes or no wheel
- Break a tie between two equally good options, such as cooking at home or ordering in.
- Check your gut: if you feel disappointed by the answer, you probably wanted the other option.
- Party and classroom games: truth-or-dare style questions, quick votes and icebreakers.
- Weighted nudges: set Yes to 7 and No to 3 for a decision you are leaning towards but want a bit of chance in.
Use it for small, low-stakes choices. For anything important to your health, money or relationships, make the decision yourself or ask someone you trust.
Frequently asked questions
Is the yes or no wheel really random?
Yes. The stopping point is chosen with crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, before the animation starts. With equal weights, Yes and No each have exactly a 50% chance, and previous spins have no effect on the next one.
How do the custom weights work?
Each answer's chance is its weight divided by the total of all weights. With Yes at 3 and No at 1, Yes wins 75% of the time and covers 75% of the wheel. Set a weight to 0 to remove that answer from the wheel.
What is a yes no oracle?
A yes no oracle is a simple divination-style tool that gives a yes or no answer to a question. This one is purely random and just for fun or for breaking a tie when you cannot decide; it does not predict the future.
Does it matter how many segments the wheel has?
No. Splitting the wheel into more alternating Yes and No segments only changes how it looks. The chance of each answer depends only on the total area of its segments, which matches its weight.
Is a yes or no wheel the same as flipping a coin?
With equal weights and no Maybe, it has the same 50/50 odds as a fair coin flip. The wheel adds a Maybe option, adjustable odds and a history of your questions.
