Checklist before you pick a name

      1. Search it. Check streaming services, video sites and social networks for the exact name.
      2. Check trademarks in your country if you plan to sell merchandise or sign a record deal.
      3. Grab the handles. Try the name on the main social platforms and as a web domain; add "band", "music" or "official" if needed.
      4. Say it out loud. Can a radio host announce it and a fan spell it after hearing it once?
      5. Picture the logo. Use the poster preview: does it look good big and small?
      6. Sleep on it. Names that are funny tonight may age fast; the ones you still like after a week are keepers.

      Why genre combos work

Many memorable band names come from a clash of moods – something soft next to something heavy, or something old next to something new. Blending a gentle folk adjective with a menacing metal noun, or a retro synthwave word with a country one, gives names that stand out in a festival line-up and hint that your music doesn't fit in a single box.

      Frequently asked questions

How does the band name generator work?

Each genre has its own word lists – adjectives, plural nouns and single nouns – plus patterns that suit it, like "Nouns of Something" for metal, "The Surname Quartet" for jazz or long phrase names for emo. The generator mixes these into fifteen fresh ideas each time.

What does blending two genres do?

With a blend selected, every name takes a word from each genre, for example a folk adjective with a metal noun ("Barefoot Wraiths") or a synthwave adjective with a country noun ("Chrome Cowboys"). It's a quick way to find something unexpected.

Is the band name already taken?

The generator doesn't search the internet, so it can't know. Before you commit, search streaming services, social networks and trademark databases for the exact name, and check that a matching domain or handle is free.

Can I include my own word?

Yes. Type a word such as your town or a nickname and every idea will use it, for example "Taco & the Electric Wolves" or "The Taco Riders".

What makes a good band name?

It should be easy to say, spell and search for, fit the music, look good on a poster and work as a social handle. Shorter is usually better, and avoid names too close to a famous band.
