Ideas for using random objects
- Timed sketch practice: one object, name only, 60-second timer. Do five rounds in a row.
- Combine two objects: generate two and draw a single invention that mixes both, like a teapot submarine.
- Describe it game: in Hidden cards mode, one player reveals a card and describes the object without naming it while the others guess.
- Story challenge: generate five objects and write a short story that uses every one of them.
- Memory game: show 10 objects for 30 seconds, switch to Hidden cards, and see how many players can remember.
- Vocabulary flashcards: pick a category, use Icon only, and ask learners to say or spell each word.
Frequently asked questions
What is a random object generator?
It picks random everyday objects, such as a teapot, a kite or a wrench, from a built-in list of more than 340 items with a picture icon for each. It is useful for drawing practice, party games, writing prompts and vocabulary lessons.
How can I use it for drawing practice?
Choose Name only so you are not copying the icon, set the number of objects to 1 to 3 and start a 1 or 2 minute timer. Quick timed sketches of everyday objects are a common way to build observation and drawing speed.
What games can I play with random objects?
Try Hidden cards for a reveal-and-describe game where one player describes the object without saying its name, Icon only for young kids to name what they see, or Name only for a drawing-and-guessing game. You can also ask players to invent a story that uses every object on the list.
Is it useful for teaching English or other languages?
Yes. Filter by a theme such as Kitchen, Clothing or Food, show icons only and ask learners to name each object, then switch to Icon and name to check. Teachers can copy or download the list to make flashcards or worksheets.
Will the same object appear twice?
Not within one set. Each list is drawn without repeats, and the swap button only brings in objects that are not already shown. If you ask for more objects than a category has, all of its objects are shown.
Why do some icons look different on my device?
The pictures are standard emoji, so each operating system draws them in its own style. Very old devices may show a blank box for a few newer emoji; the object name is always shown in the default mode.
