How the random website picker works
Many "random website" buttons pull from huge, unchecked link lists, so you often land on a dead page, a parked domain or something you would not want on a classroom screen. This generator takes the opposite approach: it uses a short, hand-picked list of 100 well-known sites across 10 categories, and every one has a plain description so you know what you are about to open.
When you press the button, the sites in your selected categories are shuffled like a deck of cards using your browser's cryptographic random number generator, then dealt one at a time. That gives every site an equal chance and means you will not see a repeat until you have gone through the whole deck. Changing the categories starts a fresh deck. Nothing is sent to a server: the list, the shuffling, your history and your saved sites all stay in your browser.

Tips for better random browsing
Match the mood. Want five minutes of calm? Turn on only Relax & Unwind. Studying? Pick Learn Something and Science & Space.
Turn sound on for music sites. Many toys in Music & Sound and Relax & Unwind are silent until you click inside the page, because browsers block autoplaying audio.
Use it in class. Project a random Science & Space or Art & Museums site as a warm-up and ask students to report one thing they learned.
Build a bookmark list. Save the sites you enjoy and download the list as a text file to keep or share.
Stay safe. These are external websites with their own privacy policies. Some offer optional accounts or show ads; you never need to sign up or enter personal details to enjoy them.
Dead link? Sites change over time. If one doesn't load, generate another, or check whether it is down for everyone with a website status checker.
Frequently asked questions
What is a random website generator?
It is a button that sends you to a website you probably have not seen before. This one picks from a curated list of 100 real sites, such as interactive toys, online museums, space simulations, music makers and handy tools, so every result is worth a click.
Are the websites safe for kids?
Every site on the list was chosen to be family-friendly, with no adult content or gambling. However, they are run by other organizations and can change, some include user-made content or ads, and a few offer optional accounts, so younger children should explore with a grown-up.
Why does the site open in a new tab?
Opening in a new tab keeps this page, your history and your saved favorites right where you left them, so you can come back and generate the next random site with one click.
Will I see the same website twice?
Not until you have seen them all. The generator shuffles every site in your selected categories like a deck of cards and deals them one by one; when the deck runs out it reshuffles.
Does this tool track the sites I visit?
No. The list and the random picking run entirely in your browser. Your history and favorites are stored only in your browser's local storage on this device, and you can clear them at any time.
Why didn't a website load?
The sites are external, so one may be temporarily down, blocked by your school or work network, or changed since it was added. Just generate another one; you can also use a website down checker to see whether the problem is on their side.
Is this like StumbleUpon?
It serves a similar purpose. StumbleUpon was a popular site-discovery service that closed in 2018. This generator is a simple, sign-up-free alternative that picks from a curated list instead of user votes.
