The elf name chart
Your elf first name comes from the first letter of your first name, and your elf last name comes from your birth month. For example, Emma born in February is Ember Sugarsocks, and Liam born in October is Lolly Pinecone.

Party ideas with elf names

Frequently asked questions
How is my elf name worked out?
The first letter of your first name gives your elf first name (A is Alpine, B is Buddy, E is Ember and so on), and your birth month gives your elf last name (January is Frostbottom, December is Starlight). The full chart is shown on this page, so you will always get the same elf name.
What is the elf job?
If you add the day of the month you were born, you also get a workshop job, such as Chief Cookie Taster for the 1st or Snowflake Designer for the 19th. There is one job for each day from 1 to 31.
My name starts with an accent or a non-Latin letter. What happens?
Accents are ignored, so Élodie counts as E. If a name has no letters from A to Z, type the Latin spelling or use the Random elf names tab instead.
Can I use these names for an Elf on the Shelf?
Yes. The random mode is handy for naming a family elf: pick a style such as sweet treats or jolly and silly, generate a list and choose a favorite. All names are original and free to use.
How big is the printable name tag?
Print name tag puts four tags on one page at about 3.5 by 2.2 inches each, a common name badge size. The PNG download is 1050 by 660 pixels, sharp enough to print at that size or larger.
Is my name stored or sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your first name, birth date and tag design are only remembered in your own browser so the page shows them next time.
