    5. Press Generate dates, then Copy list or Download CSV.

    Date formats explained

ISO 86012026-10-19Databases, APIs, file names; sorts correctly as text
    US10/19/2026United States (month first)
European19/10/2026UK, most of Europe, Latin America, India, Australia (day first)

Unix timestamp1792368000Seconds since 1 January 1970 00:00 UTC; used by programming languages and logs

A date such as 03/04/2026 means 4 March in the US but 3 April in Europe. When you share dates internationally, ISO 8601 (YYYY-MM-DD) avoids the ambiguity.

How many dates are in a range?

A normal year has 365 days and a leap year has 366. Leap years are divisible by 4, except century years, which must be divisible by 400 (2000 was a leap year, 1900 and 2100 are not). Over a long range about 5 days in every 7 (71.4%) are weekdays and 2 in 7 (28.6%) are weekend days.

Tips for test data and sampling

    • Realistic birthdays: for adults aged 18 to 65 today, use a range from about 1961 to 2008 and the long or ISO format.
    • Business days: choose Weekdays to avoid weekends; public holidays still need to be removed by hand.
    • Spreadsheet import: ISO dates are recognised by Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice in every locale. The CSV always includes an ISO column and a Unix timestamp column.
    • Repeatable audits: generate a sorted, unique list of dates and save the CSV so the sample can be documented.

Because every date is picked from the full list of matching days, short months and leap days are never over- or under-represented: 29 February only appears in ranges that contain a leap year, and then exactly as often as any other single day.

    Frequently asked questions

Are the random dates evenly distributed?

Yes. The tool counts every date in the range that matches your weekday filter and picks among them with crypto.getRandomValues, using rejection sampling to avoid bias. Every matching date has exactly the same chance of being chosen.

    Is the end date included?

Yes. Both the From and the To date can be picked. If you enter them the wrong way round, the tool swaps them for you.

What happens if I ask for more unique dates than exist?

With Unique dates on, each date can appear only once. If you ask for 30 unique weekdays in a two-week range, you get all 10 matching weekdays and a note explains why.

How are time zones and daylight saving handled?

Dates are calculated as whole calendar days in UTC, so a daylight-saving change can't skip or duplicate a day. Random times are plain clock times from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59, and Unix timestamps treat the date and time as UTC.

How do I make a custom format?

Choose Custom pattern and combine tokens such as YYYY (2026), MM (10), DD (19), MMM (Oct), MMMM (October), ddd (Mon), dddd (Monday), HH:mm:ss or hh:mm A. Put literal text in square brackets, for example [Week of] MMM D.

What can I use random dates for?

Test data for software and spreadsheets, random birthdays for characters or sample records, picking a surprise date for an event, quiz questions, scheduling random audits or spot checks, and history or calendar practice.
