How 30 days from a date is worked out
Counting 30 days means adding 30 calendar days to the start date, which is treated as day 0. The quickest way by hand is to use up the days left in the current month first, then carry the rest into the next month. Starting on October 23, for example, there are 8 days left in October (31 − 23), so 22 more days are needed and the answer is November 22. The working panel above shows this walk for your own dates, and the calendar highlights every day in between.
Because months are not all the same length, 30 days and “one month” only match after a 30-day month. Thirty days covers exactly 4 weeks and 2 days, so the weekday of the result is always two weekdays later than the start: Monday becomes Wednesday, Friday becomes Sunday.

Where 30-day periods come up
Net 30 invoices: payment is due 30 calendar days after the invoice date, not 30 business days.
Return and refund windows: many stores allow returns within 30 days of purchase or delivery; check which date the clock starts from.
Notice periods and free trials: a 30-day notice or trial usually ends on the same weekday two days later than it started, about a month on.
30-day challenges and habits: if you count the first day as day 1, your last day is 29 days after you start. Use the “count the start date” option to see it.
Business days in the results skip Saturdays, Sundays and, if ticked, the 11 US federal holidays on their observed dates. State, bank and company holidays are not included, so adjust by hand if your office closes on other days.
Frequently asked questions
What is the date 30 days from today?
The calculator at the top of this page shows it automatically, using today's date from your device. It adds 30 calendar days, so weekends and holidays are included in the count, and it also tells you which weekday the date falls on.
Is 30 days the same as one month?
Not exactly. Months have 28 to 31 days, so 30 days from the 1st lands on the 31st in a 31-day month, on the 1st of the next month after a 30-day month, and on March 2 or 3 when you start on February 1. If a contract says “one month”, use the same day number in the next month; if it says “30 days”, count 30 calendar days.
Does today count as day 1?
Normally no. Most date calculations treat the start date as day 0, so 30 days from Monday the 1st is Wednesday the 31st. Some rules count the first day too, which makes the result one day earlier. Tick “Count the start date as day 1” to use that convention.
How many business days are in 30 days?
Usually 21 or 22. Any 30-day stretch contains 4 full weeks (20 weekdays) plus 2 extra days, which add 0 to 2 more weekdays depending on where they fall. A federal holiday inside the span takes one more away. The calculator counts the exact number for your dates.
What is 30 business days from today?
Thirty working days (Monday to Friday) is six full working weeks, so it lands about 42 calendar days later, or later still if US federal holidays fall in between. The calculator shows this date separately from the 30 calendar-day date.
How do I find the date 30 days ago?
Choose “Days before (ago)”. The calculator counts 30 calendar days back from the start date, which is useful for return windows, statement periods and checking when a 30-day period started.
Why does my 30-day deadline land on a weekend?
Calendar-day deadlines can end on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday. Many courts, agencies and businesses then move the deadline to the next business day, but this depends on the rule you follow. The calculator shows the next business day whenever the result is not one.
