How AD ↔ BS conversion works
There is no simple formula for Bikram Sambat, because each month lasts as long as the sun stays in one zodiac sign: 29 to 32 days. The converter uses an embedded table of month lengths for 2000–2090 BS and a fixed reference point, 1 Baisakh 2000 BS = April 14, 1943 AD.
AD → BS: count the days from April 14, 1943 to your date, then subtract whole BS years and months until fewer days remain than the current month has. The remainder + 1 is the day.
BS → AD: add up the lengths of all years and months before your date, add the day − 1, and count that many days forward from April 14, 1943.
