How to use the Working Days Per Month Calculator
Enter the year and your hours per working day.
Choose your weekend, for example Saturday & Sunday for a standard Monday to Friday job.
Keep “Exclude US federal holidays” ticked to remove them, using Friday/Monday observed dates when a holiday falls on a weekend.
Add extra days off such as the day after Thanksgiving or company holidays.
Read the table of working days and hours per month and download it as CSV.
How working days are calculated
Working days = calendar days − weekend days − holidays that fall on working days, and working hours = working days × hours per day. A holiday that already lands on your weekend isn't subtracted twice; with observed dates, it usually moves to the nearest Friday or Monday and is subtracted there.

Tips
Monthly salary to hourly: divide the monthly pay by that month's working hours for an exact rate, or by 173.33 (2,080 ÷ 12) for the standard average.
Project planning: use the month's working days, not calendar days, to estimate capacity; subtract planned vacation in the extra days box.
State and company holidays (such as the day after Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve) aren't federal; add them as extra days off.
Weekday count rule: a year has 52 full weeks plus 1 day (2 in a leap year), so a Mon–Fri year has 260, 261 or 262 weekdays.
Frequently asked questions
How many working days are in 2026?
2026 has 261 weekdays (Monday to Friday). All 11 US federal holidays fall on or are observed on a weekday, so there are 250 working days after federal holidays, or 2,000 working hours at 8 hours a day.
How many working days are in a month on average?
About 21.7 weekdays per month (261 ÷ 12), or roughly 20.8 after the 11 federal holidays. Individual months range from 19 to 23 working days depending on how the weekends and holidays fall.
How many working hours are in a year?
With 8-hour days, 260 or 261 weekdays give 2,080 or 2,088 hours. Payroll often uses 2,080 hours (52 weeks × 40 hours) as the standard full-time year; subtracting paid holidays and leave gives the hours actually worked.
What are the US federal holidays?
New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day: 11 in total under 5 U.S.C. 6103.
What happens when a holiday falls on a weekend?
For federal employees, a holiday on Saturday is observed on the preceding Friday and one on Sunday on the following Monday. When 1 January falls on a Saturday, the observed day is 31 December of the previous year, which this calculator accounts for.
Can I use it for a Friday–Saturday weekend or a 4-day week?
Yes. Pick the weekend that matches your schedule, including Friday & Saturday, Sunday only or a three-day weekend. Holidays that land on your days off are not subtracted again.
Do private employers give all federal holidays?
Not necessarily. Federal holidays apply to federal employees and many banks; private employers choose their own paid holidays. Untick federal holidays and list your company's days off in the extra days box for an exact count.
