How the time together is counted
The calculator counts full calendar years from your start date, then full months after the latest anniversary, then the remaining days, the same way ages are counted. Total days are the calendar days between the two dates (the start day is not counted twice). The next anniversary is the same month and day in the following year; a February 29 date moves to February 28 or March 1 in common years.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate how long we have been married?
Count the full years since the wedding date, then the full months after the last anniversary, then the remaining days. From June 18, 2016 to October 20, 2026 is 10 years, 4 months and 2 days, or 3,776 days in total.
What are the traditional anniversary gifts?
The best-known traditional list is paper (1st), cotton (2nd), leather (3rd), fruit and flowers (4th), wood (5th), iron (6th), wool or copper (7th), bronze (8th), pottery (9th) and tin or aluminum (10th), then silver (25th), pearl (30th), ruby (40th), gold (50th) and diamond (60th).
What is the difference between traditional and modern gifts?
Traditional themes date back to older etiquette lists, while the modern list was introduced in the 20th century with more practical or jewelry-focused items, such as clocks for the 1st, china for the 2nd and diamond jewelry for the 10th. Many couples pick whichever they prefer.
What anniversary is 25 years? 50 years?
The 25th is the silver anniversary and the 50th is the golden anniversary. The 30th is pearl, the 40th ruby, the 45th sapphire, the 55th emerald and the 60th diamond.
When do you celebrate a February 29 anniversary?
In years without February 29, most people celebrate on February 28, the last day of February, while others choose March 1. You can choose either option in the calculator.
When is the 1,000-day anniversary?
It is the date 1,000 days after the start date, about 2 years and 9 months later. The calculator shows the next day milestone (100, 500, 1,000, 5,000 or 10,000 days) and its date.
