How to use the Truth or Dare Generator
- Choose a set: Family for all ages, Teens for school-age groups, or Party for extra-silly challenges.
- Add the players by typing each name and pressing Add. Leave it empty to play without names.
- Draw a card with Draw truth or Draw dare, or press Randomize to let the game decide.
- Answer or do the dare, then draw again. The turn moves to the next player automatically.
- Skip a card if it doesn't suit your group. Use Reshuffle deck to start a set again from the top.
Which question set should you pick?
| Set | Best for | Example truth | Example dare |
|---|---|---|---|
| Family | All ages, family game night, classrooms | What is the silliest thing you were scared of when you were little? | Walk across the room like a penguin. |
| Teens | Sleepovers, youth groups, school clubs | What is the most embarrassing song on your playlist? | Speak in a dramatic movie-trailer voice until your next turn. |
| Party | Adult get-togethers, office parties, birthdays | What is the most random thing in your bag right now? | Talk like a pirate for two minutes. |
Each set has 35 truths and 35 dares. All of them are clean: the Party set is sillier and more theatrical, not edgier.
House rules that keep the game fun
- Everyone can pass. Give each player one or two passes per game, and never push someone into a dare.
- Keep it kind. Truths are for laughing together, not at someone. Skip any card that touches a sore spot.
- Set a timer for dares. Most dares take 10 to 60 seconds, so the game keeps moving.
- Clear the space. Some dares involve walking, hopping or dancing, so move breakable items and play on a safe floor.
- Swap sets mid-game. Start with Family to warm up, then switch to Party once everyone is laughing.
How the no-repeat deck works
Think of each set as two shuffled decks of cards, one for truths and one for dares. Drawing takes the top card, so you see every card exactly once before any card can come back. With 35 cards per deck, that's 35 draws of each type before the deck reshuffles. After a reshuffle, the last card drawn is never placed on top, so the same question can't appear twice in a row.
A group of 5 players who each take about 7 truths and 7 dares will get through a whole set without a single repeat, which is roughly an hour of play.
Frequently asked questions
Are these truth or dare questions appropriate for kids?
Yes. Every truth and dare was written to be clean and kind: no romance, no gross-outs, nothing dangerous and nothing meant to embarrass someone in a mean way. The Family set is aimed at all ages, Teens at school-age players, and Party at grown-up groups who want sillier challenges.
Will I get the same question twice?
Not until you have seen the whole deck. Truths and dares each have their own shuffled deck for every set. When a deck runs out, it reshuffles and a note tells you so. Your progress is saved, so reloading the page doesn't bring old cards back.
How do turns work?
Add players and the game keeps track of whose turn it is. Each card you draw goes to the player shown as up next, then the turn moves on. Untick “Move to the next player” if you prefer to choose the order yourself.
What does Skip do?
Skip replaces the current card with another one of the same type for the same player, without passing the turn. It's handy when a dare doesn't fit the room, or a truth has already been answered.
What are the rules of truth or dare?
On your turn you choose truth or dare. For a truth you answer the question honestly; for a dare you do the challenge. A common house rule is that each player can pass once per game. Always let anyone say no to a dare that makes them uncomfortable.
