The men's to women's shoe size rule
Women's US = Men's US + 1.5 · UK and EU: no change
US shoe sizing uses two scales that are offset by about one and a half sizes, so the same foot is a men's 9 and a women's 10.5. The UK and EU systems use one scale for everyone, which is why European sneaker labels often show only one EU number.
Example: a men's EU 44 shoe is also a women's EU 44. On a typical chart that is a men's US 10 and therefore a women's US 11.5.

Tips for buying shoes across men's and women's sizing
- Check width as well as length. Men's shoes are cut wider in the forefoot and heel. Women with narrow heels may need a heel grip or insole in men's shoes.
- Unisex labels often print "M 9 / W 10.5". If only one US number is shown, look for a small M or W next to it.
- Measure your foot in the evening, standing, heel against a wall, and compare the cm figure with the brand's chart. Foot length beats any rule of thumb.
- Brands differ: some use a 1-size gap and some sandals and slides use a 2-size gap; the brand's own unisex chart wins.

How do I convert men's shoe size to women's?
In US sizing add 1.5: a men's 9 is a women's 10.5. Some brands use a 1 or 2 size difference, so check the brand's chart for borderline cases. UK and EU sizes are the same for men and women.
What is a men's 8 in women's?
A men's US 8 is about a women's US 9.5. Both fit a foot around 26 cm (10.24 in) long, which is UK 7.5 and EU 41 on a typical chart.
Why don't EU and UK sizes change between men and women?
EU (Paris point) and UK sizes are based on the length of the shoe last on a single scale, with no separate women's numbering. Only the US uses different numbers for men and women.
Do women's shoes fit narrower than men's?
Usually yes. A standard men's width is D, while a standard women's width is B, about two width steps narrower. Men wearing women's shoes may prefer a wide (D) fitting.
How do I convert women's shoe size to men's?

Is the conversion the same for running shoes and sneakers?
