How to convert a percent to a fraction
- Write the percentage as a fraction over 100: 62.5% = 62.5/100.
- If there is a decimal point, multiply the top and bottom by 10 for each decimal place: 62.5/100 = 625/1000.
- Find the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator: GCD(625, 1000) = 125.
- Divide both by the GCD: 625 ÷ 125 = 5 and 1000 ÷ 125 = 8, so 62.5% = 5/8.
- If the numerator is larger than the denominator, write it as a mixed number: 7/4 = 1 3/4.

How do you convert a percent to a fraction?
Write the percentage over 100 and simplify. For example 35% = 35/100; the greatest common divisor of 35 and 100 is 5, so 35/100 = 7/20.
How do you convert a decimal percentage like 12.5% to a fraction?
Write 12.5/100, then multiply top and bottom by 10 to remove the decimal: 125/1000. The GCD of 125 and 1000 is 125, so 12.5% = 1/8.
What is 33 1/3% as a fraction?
33 1/3% is (100/3)/100 = 1/3. Similarly 66 2/3% = 2/3 and 16 2/3% = 1/6. If you type 33.33% instead you get 3333/10000, because 33.33 is a rounded value, not exactly one third.
How do I convert a percentage over 100%?
The same way: 175% = 175/100 = 7/4, which is the mixed number 1 3/4. Any percentage above 100% is more than one whole.
What is 0.5% as a fraction?
0.5% = 0.5/100 = 5/1000 = 1/200. Small percentages give large denominators.
What is the difference between a percent, a fraction and a decimal?
They are three ways of writing the same number. Percent means per hundred, so 25% = 25/100 = 1/4 = 0.25.
