How to use the Invisible Character
- Press Copy invisible character for the most popular blank character, or pick one from the list below.
- Set a repeat count if you need several in a row, for example a blank message or a wider gap.
- Paste it into the name, bio or message field of your app or game.
- If the app rejects it, try another blank character: Braille blank, Halfwidth Hangul Filler or Hangul Choseong Filler.
- Check any text by pasting it into the test box. Hidden characters show up as orange (or green for spaces) badges, and Strip removes them.

| Halfwidth Hangul Filler | U+FFA0 | Narrow | No | Blank nicknames when U+3164 is blocked |

“Whitespace” means the character has the Unicode White_Space property. Forms, programming languages (for example JavaScript's trim()) and most apps remove whitespace from the start and end of a field, so non-whitespace blanks are the ones that survive on their own.
Why blank characters sometimes stop working
Platforms filter invisible characters to prevent impersonation (two names that look identical), spam and broken layouts. Discord, Instagram and many games have changed their rules over the years, so a character that works today may be rejected tomorrow, and a name field may allow it while a username field does not. If one character fails, try the next one in the Blank tab, or combine it with a visible character such as a dot.
Hidden characters in code and documents
Zero width spaces, BOMs (U+FEFF) and no-break spaces often sneak in when you copy from web pages, PDFs, Word or chat apps. They cause errors like “unexpected token”, failed string comparisons, broken CSV headers or URLs that do not open. Paste the text into the test box above to see them, then strip them. To clean up line breaks and spacing use Remove Line Breaks, and to keep line breaks in Instagram captions use the Instagram Caption Formatter. Need hundreds of blank characters? Set the repeat count above or use the Text Repeater.
Frequently asked questions
What is an invisible character?
It is a real Unicode character that shows no visible mark. Some have a width and look like a space (such as the Hangul Filler U+3164 or the Braille blank U+2800), while others have no width at all (such as the zero width space U+200B). Apps treat them as text, which lets you send a blank message or set an empty-looking name.
Which invisible character works best for blank names?
The Hangul Filler (U+3164) is the most widely accepted for game and Discord nicknames, because it is a letter, not whitespace. If it is blocked, try the Halfwidth Hangul Filler (U+FFA0), the Hangul Choseong Filler (U+115F) or the Braille blank (U+2800). Rules differ per game and change over time, so test in the app.
How do I send a blank message on WhatsApp?
Copy the Braille blank (U+2800) or the Hangul Filler, paste it in the chat and send. A normal space does not work because WhatsApp trims spaces and blocks empty messages.
Why does my app remove the character?
Most apps trim whitespace from the start and end of fields, and some also filter known invisible characters to stop impersonation and spam. Characters marked Trimmed as whitespace (like the no-break space) are almost always removed on their own. Pick one marked Not trimmed instead.
How can I find hidden characters in text or code?
Paste the text into the test box. Every invisible or special space character is shown as a badge with its short name, such as ZWSP for a zero width space, and the summary lists how many of each were found. Press Strip invisible characters to remove them (special spaces become normal spaces).
Are invisible characters safe to use?
They are ordinary Unicode text and cannot run code. Be aware that they can break searches, passwords, URLs and code, because text that looks the same is actually different. Avoid them in logins, email addresses and programming.
