Exact reflections exist for letter pairs such as b/d, p/q and M/W and for symmetrical letters. For other letters the generator uses the closest Unicode look-alike, so mirrored text is a visual effect rather than a perfect reflection.

How does mirror text work?
Unicode has no mirrored font, so each letter is swapped for a character from another alphabet or symbol set that looks like its reflection: ɘ for e, Я for R, ꓘ for K, and b for d. In the default mode the order of the characters is also reversed, so the whole line reads correctly when held up to a mirror.
Why do some letters look unchanged?
Letters that are symmetrical left to right, such as A, H, I, M, O, T, U, V, W, X, Y, i, l, m, o, v, w and x, look the same in a mirror, so they stay as they are. A few letters such as Z, n and most digits have no good mirrored look-alike in Unicode and are also left unchanged.
What is the difference between mirror and upside-down mirror?
A horizontal mirror flips text left to right, like a bathroom mirror. An upside-down mirror flips it top to bottom, like a reflection on a lake: b becomes p, M becomes W and A becomes ∀, while the order stays the same. Rotating text 180° combines both, which is what the Upside Down Text Generator does.
