How to use the Maze Chase Game
Press Start game (or any arrow key). After READY! your character starts moving left.
Steer with the arrow keys or WASD, swipe on a touch screen, or use the on-screen pad. Press a direction a little before a turn and you will take it as soon as the path opens.
Eat every dot to clear the level. The tunnel on the middle row wraps around to the other side, and ghosts slow down inside it.
Grab a power pellet in the corners to turn the ghosts blue, then chase them down. When they start flashing white, they are about to turn back.
Avoid normal ghosts. Each catch costs a life. Pause any time with P or Space, and try to beat your high score.
Tips for a higher score
Turn early. Press the next direction just before you reach a corner. Your move is remembered and taken the moment the path opens, which is the fastest way around the maze.
Save the power pellets. Eat a pellet when ghosts are close, not when they are far away, so you can catch several of them before they turn back.
Chain ghosts for 3,000 points. Eating all four ghosts on one pellet scores 200 + 400 + 800 + 1,600 = 3,000 points.
Use the tunnel. Ghosts slow down in the side tunnel on the middle row, so it is a good escape route.
Clear the hard corners first. Dots in the far corners and dead-end looking corridors are the riskiest to collect late in a level when ghosts are faster.
Watch the scatter phase. At the start of a level and a few times after, the ghosts head to their own corners for a few seconds. Use that window to eat dots in the middle.

Frequently asked questions
How do you play the maze chase game?
You move through a maze eating dots while four ghosts chase you. Clear every dot and power pellet to finish the level. If a ghost touches you, you lose a life, and the game ends when all lives are gone. Power pellets make the ghosts vulnerable for a short time so you can eat them.
How does scoring work?
Each dot is worth 10 points and each power pellet 50. Ghosts eaten during one power pellet are worth 200, 400, 800 and 1,600 points in a row. Bonus fruit is worth 200 points on level 1 and more on later levels, up to 900. You earn one extra life at 10,000 points.
Do the ghosts behave differently?
Yes. The red ghost heads straight for you, the pink ghost aims a few squares ahead of you, the cyan ghost aims at a spot that depends on both you and the red ghost, and the orange ghost chases you from far away but wanders off to its corner when it gets close. Every so often all of them scatter to their own corners for a few seconds, then resume the chase.
What happens on higher levels?
Each level you and the ghosts move faster, the ghosts leave their house sooner, and the time they stay blue after a power pellet gets shorter, down to a minimum of 1.5 seconds.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Swipe anywhere on the maze to turn, or use the direction pad that appears below the maze on touch screens. The maze scales to fit your screen.
Is this the original Pac-Man?
No. It is an original browser game in the same maze-chase style, with its own maze, graphics and sounds. It runs entirely in your browser with no download or sign-up.
Is my high score saved?
Your high score is stored in your browser's local storage on this device. It is never uploaded anywhere, and you can clear it with Reset high score.
