Moles pop out of their holes and duck back down fast. Whack as many as you can before the clock runs out, and watch out: the longer the round goes, the faster they get.

Whack-a-Mole
Whack the moles, grab the golden ones and spare the bunnies!
Press Start game and wait for the 3-2-1 countdown.
Whack the moles by clicking or tapping them. On a keyboard, the 3×3 grid maps to the number pad (7-8-9 top row) or to Q-W-E, A-S-D, Z-X-C.
Hit golden moles for triple points, but don't hit the bunnies.
Build a streak: 5 hits in a row doubles your points, 10 in a row triples them. A miss or an escaped mole resets the streak.
How the speed increases
The game gets harder smoothly over the round, so a 60-second round reaches the same top speed as a 30-second one, just more gradually. These are the approximate timings at different points in a round:

Golden moles only stay up for 70% of the normal time, so they need quick reflexes. Bunnies stay up a little longer, and appear more often as the round goes on.

The multiplier is ×1 for streaks of 0–4, ×2 from 5 hits in a row and ×3 from 10 hits in a row. Accuracy on the results card is moles hit divided by all your swings (hits, empty swings and bunnies).
Tips for a high score
Keep your eyes on the centre of the grid and use peripheral vision instead of chasing each mole.
Protect your streak. A ×3 multiplier is worth more than the occasional risky swing, so don't click holes that are empty.
Look before you whack late in the round, when bunnies get more common.
Try the keyboard. With two hands on the number pad or on Q-W-E / A-S-D / Z-X-C, you can react faster than moving a mouse.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Whack-a-Mole?
Moles pop up from nine holes at random. Click or tap a mole while it is up to whack it and score points. Each mole only stays up for a short time, and the game gets faster as the round goes on. Score as many points as you can before the timer reaches zero.
How are points scored?
A normal mole is worth 10 points and a golden mole is worth 30. Hitting a bunny costs 15 points. Your streak multiplies points: ×2 from 5 hits in a row and ×3 from 10 in a row. Clicking an empty hole or letting a mole escape resets the streak.
How much faster does it get?
At the start a mole stays up for about 1.1 seconds and a new one appears roughly every 0.85 seconds. By the end of the round moles stay up for about 0.45 seconds, appear about every 0.35 seconds, and up to three can be up at once.
Can I play with a keyboard?
Yes. The holes match a number pad: 7, 8, 9 for the top row, 4, 5, 6 for the middle and 1, 2, 3 for the bottom. You can also use Q W E, A S D and Z X C. Press Space to start a new round.
Why did my streak reset?
Your streak counts moles hit in a row. It goes back to zero when you swing at an empty hole, whack a bunny, or let a mole duck back down without hitting it. Bunnies that hide on their own never reset your streak.
Is my high score saved?
Yes. Your best score for each round length is stored in your browser on this device. It is never uploaded, and clearing your browser data resets it.
