Typing Game
Words rain down from the top of the screen. Type each one before it hits the ground, climb through the levels and watch your words per minute go up.
Words vanish as soon as they are spelled correctly – no need to press Space. Esc pauses. Backspace fixes mistakes.

How to use the Typing Game
- Choose a difficulty and a word set. Easy uses short words that fall slowly; Hard uses long words that fall fast.
- Press Start game (or Enter in the typing box). The cursor jumps to the typing box.
- Type any falling word. The word you are typing turns green letter by letter and vanishes when it is complete.
- Fix mistakes with Backspace. The box turns red when what you typed doesn't match any word on screen.
- Don't let three words land. Every 10 words you go up a level; press Esc to pause and check your WPM and accuracy at the end.
Difficulty levels
| Difficulty | Word length | Falling speed at level 1 | Speed added per level | New word every |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 3–6 letters | 20 units/s (about 18 s to land) | +4 units/s | 2.6 s, down to 1.1 s |
| Medium | 4–8 letters | 28 units/s (about 13 s) | +5 units/s | 2.1 s, down to 0.9 s |
| Hard | 6–14 letters | 40 units/s (about 9 s) | +6 units/s | 1.6 s, down to 0.7 s |
The board is 400 units tall, so the landing time is roughly 366 ÷ speed. Each word gets a random speed between 85% and 115% of the level speed, and the gap between new words shrinks by 0.16 s per level.
How WPM and accuracy are worked out
WPM = (letters typed in completed words + one space per word) ÷ 5 ÷ minutes played. For example, if you finish 30 words with 165 letters in 90 seconds, that is (165 + 30) ÷ 5 = 39 standard words in 1.5 minutes, or 26 WPM.
Accuracy = correct keystrokes ÷ total keystrokes × 100. If you press 200 letter keys and 188 of them keep your input matching a word, your accuracy is 94%. Backspace is not counted as a keystroke.
| Typing speed | What it means |
|---|---|
| Under 25 WPM | Beginner or hunt-and-peck typing |
| 25–40 WPM | Average casual typist |
| 40–60 WPM | Good, comfortable touch typing |
| 60–80 WPM | Fast; typical of people who type all day |
| 80+ WPM | Very fast, competitive typing |
Game WPM is usually lower than in a plain typing test because you also spend time reading and choosing words.
Tips to reach higher levels
- Type the lowest word first. When two words share the same start, the game always targets the one closest to the ground.
- Keep your eyes on the board, not the keyboard. Touch typing is the fastest way to raise your score.
- Protect your combo. The streak bonus adds up to 50 points per word, so accuracy beats speed.
- Save golden words for when the screen gets crowded; slow motion lasts four seconds.
Frequently asked questions
How does the typing game work?
Words fall from the top of the board. Type one and it disappears as soon as it is spelled correctly, earning points. If a word reaches the grass at the bottom you lose a life, and after three lost lives the game is over.
How is WPM calculated?
Words per minute uses the standard five-characters-per-word rule: the letters of every word you completed, plus one space per word, are divided by 5 and then by the minutes you have been playing (paused time is not counted).
How is accuracy measured?
Every letter you type counts as a keystroke. A keystroke is correct if what you have typed so far still matches the start of a word on the screen. Accuracy is correct keystrokes divided by all keystrokes, shown to one decimal place.
How are points scored?
A completed word is worth its length × 10 × the current level, plus a combo bonus of 5 points for every word in your current streak (up to 50). A missed word or a wrong letter resets the combo.
What do the golden words do?
From level 2 on, about one word in fourteen is golden. Typing it slows every falling word to about a third of its speed for four seconds.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. Tap Start game and your on-screen keyboard opens with the typing box. Autocorrect and auto-capitalization are switched off for the box so they don't get in the way.
Are my scores stored online?
No. Best scores and your last 10 games are kept only in this browser's local storage, and nothing you type leaves your device.
