Type your text to cross it out with a long or short stroke, a slash or a wavy line. Copy the result and paste it into places that have no strikethrough button, like social media posts and bios.

Works in Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Facebook, Discord, YouTube and most apps that accept emoji. These are Unicode characters, not formatting, so screen readers may not read them as normal words: use them for short decorative text.

How strikethrough text works
Strikethrough text uses combining characters: invisible marks that are drawn on top of the preceding letter. The generator inserts one after every character:
Style
Combining mark
Example
Long stroke
U+0336
t̶e̶x̶t̶
Short stroke
U+0335
t̵e̵x̵t̵
Long slash
U+0338
t̸e̸x̸t̸
Short slash
U+0337
t̷e̷x̷t̷
Tilde overlay
U+0334
t̴e̴x̴t̴
Because each letter is followed by a mark, the text doubles in length when counted by characters.

Frequently asked questions
How does strikethrough text work?
After each character the generator adds a Unicode combining mark such as U+0336 (combining long stroke overlay). The mark is drawn on top of the previous letter, so the text looks crossed out wherever it is pasted.
Does strikethrough work on Instagram and X?
Yes, it works in bios, captions, posts and comments on most platforms. In Discord and WhatsApp you can also use their own formatting (~~text~~ in Discord, ~text~ in WhatsApp).
Why are there gaps in the line?
Some fonts draw the combining stroke slightly shorter than the letter. The long stroke style gives the most continuous line; turning on "Strike spaces too" connects the words.
Why does the character count go up?
Each visible letter is now two characters: the letter plus the combining mark. A 10-letter word becomes 20 characters, which matters for limits like X's 280 characters.
Can I remove the strikethrough later?
Delete and retype the text, or paste it into a tool that strips combining marks. The original letters are still there under the line.
Is strikethrough text accessible?
Screen readers usually read the letters and ignore or announce the marks, so the crossed-out meaning can be lost. Don't rely on it for important information.
