How to use the Ludo Game
Set up the game. Choose 2, 3 or 4 players and set each to Human or Computer. Two players sit opposite each other (red and yellow).
Roll the dice with the button, by clicking the die, or with Space. You need a 6 to move a token out of your base onto your colored start square.
Pick a token. Tokens that can move glow; click one or press 1-4. If only one move is possible it is made for you.
Capture and stay safe. Landing on an opponent sends that token back to its base, except on stars and start squares, which are safe.
Go home. After a full lap, tokens enter your colored home column and need the exact number to reach the center. The first player with all four tokens home wins; the rest are ranked.

Ludo strategy tips
Get tokens out early. A 6 is your only way out of base, so with several tokens at home, using a 6 to bring one out usually beats moving a token already on the track.
Spread your risk. Moving one token all the way is fast, but having two or three on the board gives you more choices for every roll.
Count the gap behind you. An opponent 1 to 6 squares behind your token can capture it next turn. Moving out of range, or onto a star, is often worth more than raw distance.
Chase from behind. Sitting a few squares behind an opponent's token gives you capture chances without being exposed to it.
Do not rush the last token. Tokens in the home column are safe, so use rolls that would overshoot home to move your other tokens.
Frequently asked questions
How do you get a token out in Ludo?
You must roll a 6. The token moves from your base onto your colored start square, and because you rolled a 6 you also get another roll.
What happens when you land on another player's token?
The opponent's token is captured and goes back to its base, and it needs another 6 to come out. With the bonus option on, you also get an extra roll. Tokens on star squares or colored start squares are safe and cannot be captured.
Do you need an exact roll to get home?
Yes. Once a token is in its home column it can only move if the roll does not take it past the center. For example, a token 3 steps from home can move with a 1, 2 or 3 but not with a 4.
What happens if you roll three 6s in a row?
With the default rules your turn ends immediately and the third roll is not used. This stops lucky streaks from deciding the game. You can switch this rule off in the setup.
How long is the track?
Each token travels 51 squares around the shared track, starting from its own start square, then 5 squares up its home column and one final step into the center, 57 steps in total.
How does the computer play?
Computer players prefer captures, finishing tokens and bringing out new tokens, try to land on safe squares and avoid squares that an opponent can reach with its next roll. They use the same dice as everyone else.
Is Ludo the same as Parcheesi?
They both come from the Indian game Pachisi. Ludo is the simplified British version with one die; Parcheesi is an American version that uses two dice and slightly different rules about blockades and safe spaces.
