Pop all bubbles sets off a chain reaction across the whole sheet.
A tiny history of bubble wrap
Bubble wrap was invented in 1957 by engineers Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes, who first tried to sell the two sealed plastic sheets as textured wallpaper. It found its real job a few years later as protective packaging. The last Monday of January is celebrated in the United States as Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day. Silicone pop-it fidget toys became a worldwide playground craze around 2020 and 2021.
Frequently asked questions
Why is popping bubble wrap so satisfying?
Popping gives quick sensory feedback (a sound, a feel and a visible change) for a tiny, safe effort, and repeating a simple action can be calming. Many people use bubble wrap or pop-it toys as a fidget to keep their hands busy while thinking or waiting. It is a fun distraction, not a medical treatment.
Does virtual bubble wrap ever run out?
No. With Auto refill on, a fresh sheet slides in as soon as you pop the last bubble, and you can press Refill sheet at any moment. Your total pops are counted across sheets and saved in your browser.
How do the pop sounds work?
Each pop is synthesized on the spot with the Web Audio API: a very short burst of filtered noise plus a low thump, with the pitch and length varied slightly so no two pops sound exactly alike. Nothing is downloaded and you can mute it with the Sound switch.
Why doesn't my phone vibrate?
Vibration uses the browser's Vibration API, which works in Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet and Firefox on Android. iPhones and iPads do not let websites vibrate the device, and some phones turn vibration off in silent or battery saver mode.
What is a pop-it?
A pop-it is a silicone fidget toy covered in half-sphere bubbles that you press in with a satisfying pop. When every bubble is pushed in you flip the toy over and pop them from the other side. Pop-it mode copies this: press Flip it over (or let Auto refill do it) when the board is done.
Can I use it without a mouse or touch screen?
Yes. Click into the sheet or press Tab to reach it, move between bubbles with the arrow keys and pop the highlighted bubble with Enter or Space.
