How to use the Emoji Quiz
Pick a category such as Animals, Food & Drink, Phrases or Movies & Stories, or play All categories mixed.
Read the emojis as a rebus: each emoji stands for a word, a sound or an idea, e.g. โ๏ธ + ๐ป = sunflower.
Type your guess and press Enter or Check answer. Spelling slips of a letter or two still count.
Stuck? Press Hint to reveal a letter (it costs a few points), or Skip to come back to the puzzle later.
Keep your streak going by solving puzzles in a row without revealing the answer.

Tips for solving faster
Look at the answer pattern. The blanks show how many words and letters the answer has, which rules out most wrong guesses.
Say the emojis out loud. Puns like "rain-deer" or "honey-moon" are much easier to hear than to see.
Think about the category. ๐ฑ + ๐ is a catfish in Animals, but could be something else in Food.
Use a hint early on long phrases. The first hints reveal the first letter of each word, which usually cracks the whole idiom.
Skip and come back. Skipped puzzles go to the end of the queue and keep your streak alive.
Frequently asked questions
How do emoji quizzes work?
Each puzzle is a short row of emojis that together describe an answer. Some emojis are literal (๐ฑ = cat), some stand for a sound or part of a word (๐ง๏ธ + ๐ฆ = reindeer), and some combine into an idea (๐ง + ๐จ = break the ice). Read them left to right and say them out loud; that often gives the answer away.
Do I need to spell the answer exactly?
No. Capital letters, punctuation and spaces are ignored, words like "the" and "a" at the start are optional, and a small typo is accepted (one wrong letter for short answers, two for longer ones). Many puzzles also accept common alternatives, such as "fall" for autumn.
How does scoring work?
A correct answer is worth 10 points, minus 3 points for every letter hint you used (never less than 2). On top of that you get a streak bonus equal to your current streak, up to 10 extra points. Revealing the answer scores nothing and resets the streak; skipping keeps the streak but moves the puzzle to later.
How many emoji puzzles are there?
There are more than 290 built-in puzzles across Animals, Food & Drink, Phrases & Idioms, Compound Words, Places, Movies & Stories, Sports & Hobbies, Jobs, and Holidays & Nature. Puzzles you have solved are remembered in your browser so you always get new ones first.
Why do some emojis look different or show as boxes?
Emojis are drawn by your device's font, so Apple, Google, Microsoft and Samsung all draw them a little differently. Very old devices may lack newer emojis and show an empty box; updating your operating system or browser usually fixes this.
Is the emoji quiz suitable for kids and classrooms?
Yes. All puzzles are family friendly, there are no ads inside the game area, nothing to install and no sign-up. It works well on a projector or smartboard for a class or party: show the puzzle and let the group shout out answers.
Can I reset my progress?
Yes. Press Reset progress under the game to clear your solved puzzles, score and best streak. Progress is stored only in your own browser's local storage; nothing is sent to a server.
