Common ways to win
- Line: any complete row, column or diagonal. Diagonals through the free space need one square fewer.
- Four corners: mark all four corner squares.
- Letter or shape: agree on a pattern before the game, such as an X, a T or a frame around the edge.
- Blackout (coverall): mark every square on the card. It takes the longest, so it is often saved for the final round.
Tips for great word bingo
- Use more words than squares. With 24 squares and only 24 words every card has the same words in a different order, so everyone tends to finish at the same time. Around 35–50 words gives a better game.
- Keep items short. One to three words per square prints large and is easy to read across the room.
- Classroom ideas: sight words, vocabulary, multiplication answers, countries and capitals, or the names of classmates.
- Print the caller sheet and tick items off as you call them, so you can verify a winning card in seconds.
Frequently asked questions
How are 75-ball bingo cards laid out?
A standard 75-ball card is a 5×5 grid under the letters B-I-N-G-O. The B column holds 5 numbers from 1–15, I from 16–30, N from 31–45 (4 numbers plus the free space in the middle), G from 46–60 and O from 61–75. This generator follows that layout exactly.
Are all the cards different?
Yes. Every card in a set is checked against the others, so no two cards are the same. With custom words, a short list limits how many truly different cards are possible, and the tool tells you if it cannot make enough.
How many words do I need for word bingo?
At least as many as the squares on a card: 24 for a 5×5 card with a free space, 25 without, 16 for 4×4 and 9 for 3×3 (one less with a free space on 3×3). More words than squares make the cards more varied and the game last longer.
How many bingo cards fit on a page?
You can choose 1, 2, 4 or 6 cards per page. One card per page gives large squares that are easy for young children; 4 per page saves paper and is still easy to read.
How do I call a bingo game?
Use the caller sheet to tick off each number or word as you call it, or open the Bingo Number Generator for a random caller with an on-screen board and spoken calls. Players mark matching squares and the first to complete a row, column or diagonal wins.
Is the bingo card generator free?
Yes, it is completely free with no sign-up or watermark, and the cards are created in your browser.
