How to solve riddles
Read it literally. Many riddles use words with two meanings: a clock has "hands", a river has a "mouth" and a "bed", a potato has "eyes".
Question your assumptions. Trick riddles rely on something you take for granted, like assuming a rooster can lay an egg.
Look at the letters. Some riddles are about spelling, not meaning: what comes once in a minute and twice in a moment is the letter M.
List the clues. For "What am I?" riddles, write down each property and find one object that fits them all.
Use the hint wisely. The first letter and length are often enough to make the answer click.

Frequently asked questions
How does the answer checking work?
Your guess is compared with the answer and a list of accepted alternatives after ignoring capital letters, punctuation and small words such as "a" and "the". So "a piano", "Piano" and "it's a piano" are all accepted. If your answer is right but worded very differently, use Reveal answer to compare.
What is the difference between Easy, Hard and Kids riddles?
Easy riddles are classic "What am I?" riddles with everyday answers. Hard riddles include logic puzzles, word play and trick questions that need lateral thinking. Kids riddles are short, silly and use simple words, which makes them great for younger children and classrooms.
How many riddles are there?
There are 159 riddles: 55 Easy, 54 Hard and 50 Kids riddles. You won't see the same riddle twice until you have gone through the whole level.
What counts toward my streak?
Your streak goes up each time you solve a riddle without revealing the answer. Hints are allowed. Revealing an answer or skipping to the next riddle without solving it resets the streak. Your best streak is saved in your browser.
Are these riddles suitable for children?
Yes. All the riddles are family-friendly. The Kids level is aimed at roughly ages 5 to 10, and the Easy level works well for older children too.
Can I share a riddle without spoiling it?
Yes. Copy and Share only include the riddle question and a link. Whoever opens the link sees the same riddle with the answer hidden.
