How to use the Fruit Slice Game
Pick a mode: Classic (3 lives) or 60 seconds (score attack, no lives).
Press Start game. Fruit is tossed up from the bottom of the board.
Slice by pressing the mouse button and dragging across the fruit, or by swiping with a finger. A fast stroke is needed; slow drags do not cut.
Chain combos by slicing 3 or more pieces in one stroke for a bonus of 10 points per fruit.
Avoid the rocks (grey stones with a dashed red ring). In Classic mode, a rock or a dropped fruit costs one of your three lives.

How slicing is detected
The game samples your pointer many times per second and draws a line between each pair of samples. A fruit is cut when that line passes through it and the stroke is moving faster than a minimum speed. That is why a quick swipe cuts cleanly while resting the cursor on a fruit does nothing. The two halves then fly apart at right angles to the direction of your cut.
Tips for big scores
Wait for the peak. Fruit slows down at the top of its arc, and several pieces often line up there. One long horizontal swipe can catch them all.
Lift between strokes. A combo only counts within one stroke, but lifting the button lets you start a new, cleaner line instead of dragging through a rock.
Curve around rocks. Your blade path does not have to be straight; arc over or under a rock to reach the fruit behind it.
In 60-second mode, be greedy. Dropped fruit costs nothing, so focus only on big combos and golden fruit.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play the fruit slice game?
Fruit is thrown up from the bottom of the screen. Swipe across a piece to cut it in half and score points. In Classic mode you have three lives: you lose one each time a fruit falls back down unsliced and each time you slice a rock. The game ends when all three lives are gone.
How do I slice with a mouse?
Hold down the left mouse button and drag quickly across the fruit, then release. On a phone or tablet, simply swipe your finger across the board. The cut only counts when the stroke is fast enough, so short flicks work better than slow drags.
How do combos work?
If one continuous swipe slices 3 or more fruit, you get a combo bonus of 10 points for each fruit in the combo, on top of the normal 10 points per fruit. A 4-fruit combo is therefore worth 40 + 40 = 80 points.
What happens if I slice a rock?
Rocks are marked with a dashed red ring. In Classic mode slicing a rock costs one life and ends your current combo. In 60-second mode it subtracts 20 points instead.
What is the golden star fruit?
Every so often a golden star-shaped fruit appears. It is worth 50 points instead of 10, so it is worth going out of your way for.
Does it get harder?
Yes. Over the first minute and a half the game tosses fruit more often, throws more pieces at once and adds more rocks, so a long Classic run gets very busy.
Is this the same as Fruit Ninja?
No. It is an original browser game in the same swipe-to-slice style. The fruit, graphics, rules and code are all new, and it runs entirely in your browser with no download or sign-up.
