How to use the Blank Sheet Music Generator
Pick a staff type, for example Treble for melody instruments, Grand staff for piano or Staff + TAB for guitar.
Set the staves: staff size, how many per page (Auto fills the page), clefs, time signature and measures per line.
Add a header with a title and composer, or leave the title empty to print write-in lines.
Choose the page: paper size, orientation, margins and number of pages.
Download the PDF and print it at 100% (Actual size) so the staff size stays exact.

Staff size explained
Staff size is the height of the five-line staff from the bottom line to the top line, so the distance between two lines is one quarter of it. Engravers traditionally describe these as rastral sizes: around 7–8 mm is used for most sheet music and parts, around 5–6 mm for full orchestral scores, and 9 mm or more for teaching material. TAB lines are spaced about 1.4 times wider than staff lines so fret numbers fit between them.
The PDF uses vector lines, so it stays sharp at any print size. If you scale the page when printing, the staff size scales with it.
Frequently asked questions
What size staff should I use?
Standard printed music uses a staff height of about 7–8 mm (the distance from the bottom line to the top line). Choose 6 mm for pocket or dense scores, 9–10 mm for easier handwriting, and 13–16 mm for beginners and young children, who need room for large note heads.
How many staves fit on a page?
With 8 mm staves and normal margins, Auto fits 12 treble staves on a portrait US Letter or A4 page, about 5 grand staves for piano, and about 6 staff + TAB systems for guitar. Larger staves or a title header reduce the count.
What is a grand staff?
A grand staff joins a treble staff and a bass staff with a brace and a shared bar line. It is used for piano, harp, organ and other keyboard instruments, where the right hand usually reads the treble staff and the left hand the bass staff.
How does guitar tablature work?
Guitar TAB has six lines, one per string, with the lowest line being the low E string. Numbers on a line show which fret to play. The Staff + TAB option pairs a treble staff with a TAB staff so you can write notes and rhythm above the fingering.
Why print at 100% or Actual size?
Many print dialogs default to 'Fit to page', which shrinks the page slightly. That is fine for most uses, but if you need an exact staff height, choose Actual size or 100% scale.
Can I use the sheets commercially or share them?
Yes. The staff paper you generate is blank and yours to print, copy, share with students or include in your own books.
