Turn one laptop, tablet or big screen into a quiz buzzer system. Each team has its own key and its own big tap zone. The first team to buzz lights up with its color and sound, everyone else is locked out, and the host resets for the next question.

How to use the Online Game Show Buzzer
Choose the number of teams and, if you like, rename them and change their keys under Team settings.
Give each team its key or zone: on a laptop teams share the keyboard (Q, P, Z, M by default); on a tablet or touch screen they tap their zone.
Ask a question. In Live mode buzzers are always armed; in Host mode press Open buzzers (or Space) when you finish reading.
The first team to buzz lights up with its sound; everyone else is locked out. Award points with the + and − buttons.
Press Reset buzzers (or Enter) for the next question.
Ways to run a buzzer round
Setup
Best for
How to play
Laptop keyboard, 2–4 teams
Family quiz night, small groups
Place the laptop in the middle. Each team keeps a finger near its key (Q, P, Z, M). The host watches the screen and presses Enter to reset.
Tablet or touch screen
Kids, party games
Lay the tablet flat; each team taps its colored zone. Use 2–4 teams so the zones stay large.
Projector + wireless keyboard
Classrooms, clubs, events
Open full screen on the projector. Pass a keyboard or give each team a cheap USB number pad and map their keys in Team settings.
Host mode
Fair play with long questions
Buzzers stay closed until the host presses Space after reading the question. Early buzzers are locked out for that question.
Tips for fair, fun rounds
Agree on the rules first: does a wrong answer give the next team in the buzz order a chance? The rank badges (2nd, 3rd…) show who is next.
Use the answer timer to keep the game moving: 5 seconds for quick-fire questions, 15–30 seconds for harder ones.
Spread keys apart so players don't bump each other's keys, and test them with a practice buzz before you start.
Close ties are decided by the time stamp the browser gives each press. Differences of a few milliseconds are real but tiny; if a tie matters, replay the question.
Keep score here or on a big board: the plus and minus buttons are saved on the device, and the online scoreboard tool works well for longer tournaments.
Frequently asked questions
How does the buzzer decide who was first?
Each key press or tap is time-stamped by the browser the instant it arrives, and the first one after the buzzers are armed wins. Because all teams use the same device, there is no network delay to make it unfair. Later presses are still listed with how many milliseconds behind they were.
Can several people buzz on one keyboard at the same time?
Yes. Each team has its own key, and the earliest key press is the winner. Most keyboards report several keys pressed together, though very cheap keyboards may miss some combinations, so choose keys far apart such as Q, P, Z and M.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. On a touch screen each team taps its own colored zone, and multi-touch lets several players tap at once. For larger groups, a tablet in the middle of the table or a touch-screen TV works best.
What is Host mode?
In Host mode the buzzers stay closed until the host presses Open buzzers or the Space bar, usually after reading the whole question. A team that buzzes too early gets a false start and is locked out for that question.
Can each player use their own phone as a buzzer?
Not with this page. It is a local buzzer for one shared device and does not connect phones over the internet, which keeps it private and free of delays. Use a big screen or tablet that everyone can reach.
Can I turn off the sound or change the keys?
Yes. Untick Sound to mute it, and open Team settings to rename teams, pick colors and set any key for each team by pressing Set key and then the key you want. Settings are saved in your browser.
