How to use the Macedonian Keyboard
- Choose a typing mode: Macedonian, Phonetic (Latin).
- Type with your keyboard (keep “Type with my physical keyboard” ticked) or click the on-screen keys. Each key shows the Macedonian character it types.
- Hold Shift or press the on-screen ⇧ key for the second character on each key.

About the Macedonian keyboard
Macedonian is written in a 31-letter Cyrillic alphabet standardised in 1945. Letters such as ѓ, ќ and ѕ are specific to Macedonian.
- Macedonian: The Macedonian Cyrillic layout: љ њ on Q W, ѕ on Y, ѓ ж right of P, ч ќ right of L, џ on X.
- Phonetic (Latin): Type Macedonian in Latin letters: dobar den → добар ден. Use gj ѓ, kj ќ, dz ѕ, dzh џ, lj љ, nj њ, ch ч, sh ш, zh ж.

Tips for typing Macedonian
- Use ј (je) for the y sound: јас, моја.
- ѕ is a dz sound, as in ѕвезда (star).
- Quotes are „like this“.
- Apostrophe ’ marks a reduced vowel in dialect words.
Frequently asked questions
How do I type ѓ and ќ?
On the Macedonian layout ѓ is right of P and ќ is right of ч. In phonetic mode type gj and kj.
How is Macedonian different from Serbian Cyrillic?
Macedonian has ѓ ќ ѕ instead of Serbian ђ ћ, and no ђ ћ at all. Both share ј, љ, њ, џ.
How do I type ѕ (dze)?
ѕ is on the Y key of the Macedonian layout, or dz in phonetic mode.
Can I paste Latin text and convert it?
Type it in phonetic mode word by word; the conversion happens as you type.
