About the Burmese keyboard
Burmese is written in the Myanmar script, an abugida with 33 consonants, medial signs, vowel signs and tone marks. Unicode stores letters in logical order, not visual order.
Myanmar (Unicode): Standard Myanmar Unicode layout (Windows "Myanmar"). Type in Unicode order: consonant, medials (ျ ြ ွ ှ), vowel signs, then tones; ေ is typed after the consonant.

Tips for typing Burmese
Type ေ after the consonant; the font places it on the left.
Asat ် kills the vowel of a final consonant.
Use Unicode, not Zawgyi, for text that everyone can read.
Myanmar digits are on the number row.
Frequently asked questions
Is this Unicode or Zawgyi?
This keyboard types standard Myanmar Unicode, which Myanmar adopted officially in 2019. Zawgyi was a non-standard font encoding and its text displays incorrectly on Unicode systems.
In what order do I type a syllable?
Consonant first, then medials (ျ ြ ွ ှ), then vowel signs (including ေ, typed after the consonant even though it appears before it), then tone marks.
How do I stack consonants?
Type the first consonant, the virama ္ (Shift+F), then the second consonant, as in မင်္ဂလာ.
Where is the Myanmar full stop?
။ is on the period key and ၊ on the comma key.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Everything stays in your browser.
