Paste the ingredients from all the recipes you plan to cook and get one shopping list: the same ingredient from different recipes is merged into a single line with the amounts added up, and everything is sorted by store section. Double a recipe with one click, tick what you already have, then copy or print.

How to use the Recipe Shopping List Generator
Paste the ingredients of your first recipe and give it a name. Whole recipes are fine: instructions are skipped.
Add more recipes with the Add another recipe button and set ×2 or ×½ for any recipe you are scaling.
Generate the shopping list. Matching ingredients are merged and the amounts added up.
Tick the items you already have at home.
Copy, download or print the list and take it to the store.
How amounts are added up
Every ingredient line is read as amount + unit + name. Amounts of the same kind are converted to a common base, added, and shown in the most practical unit:
Kind
Units recognized
Added as
Example
Volume
tsp, tbsp, cup, fl oz, pint, quart, gallon, ml, l
teaspoons
2 tbsp + 1/4 cup = 6 tbsp
Weight
oz, lb, g, kg
grams
1 lb + 8 oz = 1 1/2 lb
Count
no unit (2 eggs, 1 onion)
pieces
1 onion + 1 onion = 2 onions
Packages & pieces
can, jar, package, clove, stick, bunch, head…
per unit and size
1 (15 oz) can + 1 (15 oz) can = 2 (15 oz) cans
Volume and weight are never mixed (a cup of flour and a pound of flour stay on the same line as "1 lb + 1 cup") because converting between them depends on the ingredient's density.
Tips for a quicker shopping trip
Plan your week's meals first, then paste all the recipes at once. Shared ingredients such as onions, garlic and herbs often add up to less waste than buying for each recipe separately.
Name each recipe so the list shows what every item is for; it makes swapping or skipping a meal easy.
Write ingredients the same way across recipes ("garlic" rather than "garlic bulb") for the best matching.
Keep amounts realistic for the store: fresh herbs are sold by the bunch, so 2 tbsp of parsley usually means one bunch.
How are ingredients from different recipes combined?
Each line is split into an amount, a unit and the ingredient name. Preparation words such as chopped, minced or large and notes after a comma are removed, plurals are made singular, and lines with the same name are merged. So "1 onion, finely chopped" and "1 onion, sliced" become "Onions – 2".
Can it add cups and tablespoons together?
Yes. Volume units are converted to teaspoons (1 tbsp = 3 tsp, 1 cup = 48 tsp), added and shown in the most practical unit. Weights are added in ounces and pounds or in grams. Counts and packages such as cans and cloves are added separately, so different types are listed side by side.
What if an ingredient has no amount, like salt to taste?
It still goes on the list as "as needed". If another recipe gives an amount for the same item, the total is shown with "+ more" to remind you that one recipe did not specify how much.
How are items grouped by store section?
Each ingredient name is matched against keyword lists for typical grocery store sections such as Produce, Meat & Seafood, Dairy & Eggs, Canned & Jarred, Baking and Spices. Anything that does not match goes under Other. You can switch to an A to Z list instead.
Can I scale a recipe before making the list?
Yes. Use the × selector next to each recipe name to halve, double, triple or quadruple it. Every amount in that recipe is multiplied before the lists are combined.
Is anything saved or uploaded?
Your recipes and ticks are saved only in this browser's local storage so the list is still there when you return. Nothing is sent to a server.
