How the word changer picks a synonym
Every word is checked against a thesaurus written for this tool, covering more than 600 everyday verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs. Before a word is swapped, the tool looks at the word in front of it to decide how it is used:
After the, a, my, this and similar words it is treated as a noun or adjective, so “the change” never becomes a verb.
After to, will, can, I, we, they it is treated as a verb, so “to help” is never swapped for a noun.
Words that could be either and have no clear clue are left alone, unless the -ed or -ing ending shows they are verbs.
The synonym is put in the same form: past tense, past participle (after have or was), -ing form, third person -s, or plural.

Frequently asked questions
How does the word changer work?
It looks up each word in a thesaurus bundled with the page, checks the words just before it to guess whether it is used as a noun, verb or adjective, and swaps it for a synonym in the same form, such as past tense or plural. Nothing is sent to a server or an AI model.
Will the meaning of my text change?
Synonyms are close in meaning but rarely identical, and a word can have several senses. The tool skips many risky cases, but you should always read the result and click any word that does not fit to cycle to a better choice or back to the original.
Can I stop certain words from being changed?
Yes. Add them to “Keep these words”, separated by commas. Names and other capitalized words in the middle of a sentence are also left alone automatically.
What does the replacement rate do?
It sets the share of changeable words that get a synonym. At 100% every word the thesaurus knows is replaced; at 30% only about a third are, which usually reads more naturally.
Is this a paraphrasing tool?
It is a word-level synonym replacer, not a full paraphraser: it does not reorder sentences or change grammar. For a real rewrite, use the suggestions as a starting point and edit the sentences yourself.
Is it okay to use a word changer for school or work?
Changing words does not make someone else's writing your own. Use it to vary your own wording or avoid repetition, and always credit sources you quote or paraphrase.
