Paste long text and split it into parts that fit any limit: 280 characters for X, 2,000 for Discord, 160 for SMS, or a custom number. Split by characters, words, lines or a delimiter, add part numbers and copy each chunk with one click.

How to use the Text Splitter
Paste your text into the box.
Choose how to split: by characters, words, lines or a delimiter such as a comma or ###.
Set the size: pick a preset like X (280) or Discord (2,000), or type your own limit.
Fine-tune: keep words whole, prefer sentence ends and add part numbers such as 1/5.
Copy each chunk with its Copy button, or copy or download all parts at once.
How the splitter chooses where to break
In Characters mode the tool fills each chunk as close to the limit as it can, then looks backwards for the most natural place to end it:
A paragraph break (a blank line), if one falls in the second half of the chunk.
The end of a sentence (. ! ? or … followed by a space), again in the second half of the chunk.
The last space, so no word is split.
A hard cut at the limit, only when a single word or URL is longer than the whole limit.
Breaks are only accepted in the second half of a chunk, so you never get a tiny part just because a sentence ended early. Spaces and line breaks at the edges of each chunk are trimmed. When numbering is on, the tool first works out how many parts there will be, reserves room for the longest label (for example 10/12 takes 6 characters) and splits again if the number of digits changes, so every part including its number fits the limit.

Other ways to split
Words: a fixed number of words per chunk, handy for AI tools with input limits, translation batches or reading assignments. Line breaks inside each chunk are kept.
Lines: a fixed number of lines per chunk, for lists, CSV rows, email addresses or log files that must be processed in batches.
Delimiter: split wherever a separator appears, such as a comma, a semicolon, a pipe or a marker like ###. Set Parts per chunk above 1 to group several items together, for example 50 comma-separated keywords per batch.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split text into 280-character chunks for X (Twitter)?
Choose Characters, pick the X post preset (280) and paste your text. With Keep words whole and Prefer sentence ends ticked, each part ends at a natural break. If you add numbering such as 1/5, the numbers are counted inside the 280 limit. Note that X counts links as 23 characters and most emoji as 2, so leave a little room if your text has them.
What is the Discord message limit?
A normal Discord message can hold up to 2,000 characters; Discord Nitro raises the limit to 4,000. Use the Discord preset to split longer text into 2,000-character messages that you can paste one after another.
Will the splitter cut words in half?
No, not with Keep words whole ticked (the default). The tool breaks at the last space that fits. A word is only cut if a single word is longer than the whole limit, such as a very long URL.
How are characters counted?
Characters are counted as you see them, so an emoji, a flag or an accented letter counts as 1. Line breaks count as 1 character each. Some platforms count differently (X counts most emoji as 2), so check the platform's rules for very tight limits.
Can I split text by a comma, a semicolon or a custom marker?
Yes. Choose Delimiter and type the separator, for example a comma, ; or ###. Use \n for a line break and \t for a tab. You can keep or drop the delimiter, trim spaces and skip empty parts.
Can I split a document into chunks for ChatGPT or another AI tool?
Yes. Choose Words or Characters and a size that fits the tool's input limit, for example 3,000 words. Add numbering such as Part 1 so you can tell the AI how many parts to expect. Your text is processed locally in your browser and is never uploaded.
