About the Telugu keyboard
Telugu is a Dravidian language with its own rounded script, an abugida in which consonants take vowel signs and join with the virama (్).
InScript: InScript Telugu layout (Government of India standard, the same key positions as Hindi InScript). Vowel keys give vowel signs; Shift gives full vowels.
Phonetic typing: Type Telugu in English letters as it sounds; consonants join automatically. Capitals give retroflex letters (T D N L).
About the Telugu script
Telugu is the official language of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and one of the most widely spoken languages in India. Most of its letters carry a small check-mark shaped stroke on top called the talakattu, and when two consonants meet without a vowel the second is written as a small subscript form called a vattu beneath the first. You only type the base letters and the virama; the font builds these joined forms automatically.
