Print sizes for your wanted poster
| Page size | Inches | Millimetres | Pixels at 150 dpi | Pixels at 300 dpi |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| US Letter | 8.5 × 11 | 216 × 279 | 1275 × 1650 | 2550 × 3300 |
| A4 | 8.27 × 11.69 | 210 × 297 | 1240 × 1754 | 2480 × 3508 |
| Tabloid | 11 × 17 | 279 × 432 | 1650 × 2550 | 3300 × 5100 |
The pixel size is the page size in inches multiplied by the dots per inch. A Letter page at 300 dpi is 8.5 × 300 = 2550 pixels wide and 11 × 300 = 3300 pixels tall.
Ideas and tips
- Party props: make one poster per guest for a western birthday and pin them along the wall. The torn-edge PNG looks great on invitations too.
- Pets: “Wanted for stealing socks” with a sepia photo of the dog or cat is a classic gift and fridge picture.
- Office fun: a farewell or retirement poster with a large reward makes a good card for colleagues to sign.
- Framing the face: zoom to about 130–160% and drag so the eyes sit about a third of the way down the frame, like a real portrait.
- Extra authenticity: print on cream, kraft or parchment paper, then crumple it, flatten it and rub the edges with a used tea bag.
Frequently asked questions
What did real old-west wanted posters look like?
Most were plain letterpress handbills printed in black ink on cheap paper, with large wood-type headlines such as WANTED or REWARD and a short description of the person. Photographs were rare before the 1880s and were often pasted on or printed as a small engraving. The weathered, stained look comes from posters left outdoors on walls and fence posts.
How do I print the poster?
Download the PDF and print it at 100% or Actual size. The page is set to the exact paper size you chose (Letter 8.5 × 11 in, A4 or Tabloid 11 × 17 in). For the most authentic look, print on cream or kraft paper, or crumple the printed sheet gently and flatten it again.
Which resolution should I choose?
300 dpi is best for printing and gives a sharp result even on Tabloid paper. 150 dpi makes a smaller file that is ideal for sharing on social media or in chat.
Can I make a funny poster for a party or a pet?
Yes, that is what most people use it for: cowboy-themed birthday parties, retirement and office jokes, escape-room props, and pets wanted for stealing socks or snacks. Change the charge line to anything you like.
What happens to the torn edges in the downloads?
In the PNG the torn-away parts are transparent, so the poster can sit on any background, like the wooden board in the preview. The PDF is made for printing on white paper, so those areas are white there.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The poster, its paper texture and the downloads are all generated in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device. The western fonts come from Google Fonts; if they cannot load, a similar system serif is used.
