How to use the Mandala Generator
Press Generate random mandala until you see a design you like, or type a seed number and click Create from seed to rebuild a saved design.
Set the symmetry with the slider: 6-12 slices give big, easy shapes; 18-36 slices make intricate patterns for adults.
Edit the layers from the center outward: change each ring's shape, repeats (½× to 3×), width and offset, reorder rings with the arrows, or add and remove rings.
Choose Coloring page or Colored, pick a line weight, and turn inner details and ring outlines on or off.
Download the PDF to print, or save an SVG or PNG to color digitally, cut on a craft machine or share.
How the mandala is built
Every design is a stack of concentric rings around a small center circle. The space between the center and the edge is divided among the layers in proportion to their width setting (Thin = 0.7, Normal = 1, Wide = 1.4). Each ring is then split into equal slices of 360° ÷ symmetry, and one motif is drawn per slice, rotated around the center. A layer set to 2× places two smaller motifs per slice (slice angle ÷ 2), and Offset turns the whole ring by half a step so its motifs sit between the motifs of the ring below, which gives the classic interlocking look.
Rings are painted from the outside in, and each ring first fills its own disk, so inner rings always sit cleanly on top. That keeps every outline closed, which matters for coloring and for digital paint-bucket fills.

Tips for great coloring pages
Match detail to the colorist: about 8-10 slices, 4-5 layers and Bold lines for preschoolers; 16-24 slices, 7-10 layers and Fine lines for adults.
Alternate busy and calm rings, for example Interlaced circles next to Double rings, so the design does not look crowded.
Print on smooth, heavier paper (around 24-32 lb / 90-120 gsm) for markers so the ink does not bleed through; use card stock for watercolor pencils.
For digital coloring, download the PNG and use a paint-bucket tool, or open the SVG in a vector app and fill each shape.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a printable mandala coloring page?
Choose the Coloring page style, generate or build a mandala, then click Download PDF to print. The PDF holds the mandala as vector lines centered on a US Letter or A4 page, with an optional title and a name and date line, so it prints sharp at any printer resolution. Print at 100% or Actual size.
What does symmetry mean in a mandala?
A mandala repeats the same motif around its center. The symmetry number is how many equal slices the circle is split into: 8-fold symmetry repeats every motif 8 times, 45 degrees apart. Each layer can repeat its shape once per slice, twice (2×), three times (3×) or once every other slice (½×) for variety.
Can I recreate the same random mandala later?
Yes. Every random design comes from a seed number shown in the Seed box. Enter the same seed and click Create from seed to get exactly the same layers and symmetry again. Your last design and settings are also remembered in this browser.
Which line weight is best for coloring?
Use Bold or Extra bold lines with 8-12 slices for young children, since the shapes are large and easy to stay inside. Medium works for most ages, and Fine lines with 18 or more slices and inner details give the intricate look adults usually want for colored pencils and fine markers.
Can I use the SVG with Cricut or a laser cutter?
The SVG is pure vector paths with no embedded images, so it opens in Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, Inkscape, Illustrator and laser software. Shapes are stacked and overlap, so for a single-layer cut you may need to weld or flatten the design in your cutting software first.
Can I sell or share mandalas I make here?
The designs are generated from your own choices in your browser and are not watermarked, so you can print, share and use them in your own projects. The tool does not register or track designs, so it cannot guarantee that someone else has not produced a similar one.
Does the generator upload anything?
No. All drawing happens in your browser with JavaScript and the canvas, and the PDF, SVG and PNG files are created on your own device.
