How to use the Signature Maker
Choose Draw or Type. Draw to sign by hand, or Type to generate a signature from your name.
Sign on the pad with your mouse, finger or stylus. Write slowly for thicker lines and quickly for thinner, tapered strokes. Use Undo to remove the last stroke.
Or type your name and click the handwriting font you like best, then adjust the size.
Pick the ink color and thickness. Blue ink is a common choice for documents that should look hand-signed.
Download a transparent PNG (cropped to the signature) or an SVG, or copy the image and paste it into your document.
Tips for a natural-looking signature
Sign at your normal speed. The pen gets thinner when you move fast and thicker when you slow down, like real ink. Signing too slowly makes every line look heavy.
Use the whole pad. A larger signature has smoother curves. The download is cropped to the ink automatically, so empty space around it does not matter.
On a phone, turn it sideways for a wider pad, and use a stylus if you have one: real pen pressure is used when the stylus reports it.
Blue or black ink? Black reads best on screen and in copies. Blue ink makes it easier to tell an original signed page from a photocopy, which is why some offices prefer it.
Keep the file private. Treat a signature image like a password: send it only to people you trust and only paste it into documents you really mean to sign.

Frequently asked questions
Is this signature maker free and private?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no watermark. Your signature is created entirely in your browser; it is never uploaded to a server and is not saved anywhere after you close the page.
How do I get a signature with a transparent background?
Leave Background set to Transparent and press Download PNG. The image is cropped to the signature with a small margin, and everything around the ink is fully transparent, so it sits cleanly on top of any document.
How do I add my signature to a PDF or Word document?
Download the PNG, then insert it as an image: in Word use Insert > Pictures, in Google Docs use Insert > Image, and for PDFs use a PDF signing tool such as our Sign PDF tool, which lets you place the image on the page.
Is a drawn or typed signature legally valid?
In many countries, including under the US ESIGN Act and the EU eIDAS regulation, an electronic signature can be legally valid when the signer intends to sign and the record is kept. Some documents need a stricter qualified or witnessed signature. When in doubt, check with the party who asked you to sign.
What resolution should I download?
2x (about 150 to 200 px tall for a typical signature) is enough for documents and emails. Choose 4x for print or large displays. The SVG is vector, so drawn signatures stay sharp at any size.
Why do the handwriting fonts look plain?
The fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. If your network blocks them, the browser shows a standard cursive font instead. Draw mode always works offline.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. Draw mode works with your finger or a stylus; turn your phone sideways for a wider signing pad. While you sign, touching the pad does not scroll the page.
