How to use the Before and After Image Maker
Add the two photos: drop or choose the Before photo on the left and the After photo on the right. Use Swap if you mixed them up.
Choose a layout: Side by side, Stacked (one above the other) or Slider split.
Set the split: in Slider split, drag the divider on the preview or use the Split position slider. Pick a vertical or horizontal line.
Style the labels: edit the text (for example Day 1 / Day 90), choose a position, style and size, or untick Show labels.
Download the comparison as PNG or JPG, or press Create video to record an animated slider sweep you can post as a Reel, Short or story.

Landscape photos: rooms, gardens, cars, websites; fits phone feeds well
Tall: the two heights added together at a shared width
Slider split
Photos taken from exactly the same spot: renovations, photo edits, cleaning, restorations
Same as the before photo

Reels, Shorts, stories and product pages where motion catches the eye
Split view, up to 1280 px on the long side
How the photos are matched
In side by side mode both photos are scaled to the smaller of the two heights, so the new width of each is original width × shared height ÷ original height. In stacked mode the same is done with widths. Because the target is the smaller size, neither photo is enlarged. In slider split mode the canvas takes the before photo's size and the after photo is scaled to cover it, centered, so a different aspect ratio loses a little at the edges.
Tips for convincing before and after photos
Shoot both photos from the same position, height and distance, ideally with a tripod or a mark on the floor.
Use the same lighting and time of day so the change you show is the real change, not the light.
Keep the camera settings (zoom, portrait mode, filters) identical; for a fair comparison don't edit only the after photo.
Label clearly with dates or durations, for example Week 1 and Week 12, so viewers understand the timeline.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a before and after picture?
Add your two photos, pick Side by side, Stacked or Slider split, adjust the labels and press Download image. The tool scales both photos to the same height (side by side) or width (stacked) automatically so they line up.
What if my two photos have different sizes?
Side by side scales both photos to the smaller of the two heights, stacked scales them to the smaller width, so nothing is enlarged. Slider split needs one frame, so the after photo is scaled and center-cropped to the before photo's shape. For the cleanest result take both photos from the same spot and distance.
Can I make a before and after slider video?
Yes. Press Create video: the browser records the divider sweeping across (or a crossfade) as a short looping clip. Chrome, Edge and Firefox save WebM, Safari saves MP4. Most social apps accept both; convert WebM with a video converter if one does not.
Which layout works best on Instagram?
Stacked comparisons of landscape photos and side-by-side comparisons of portrait photos both fit a 4:5 portrait post well. A slider video exported as a Reel shows the transformation in the most engaging way.
Is the image quality reduced?
Photos are drawn at their original resolution unless you pick a smaller output width or one photo has to be scaled down to match the other. PNG export is lossless; JPG uses the quality you choose.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything, including the video recording, happens locally in your browser with the Canvas and MediaRecorder APIs. Nothing is sent to a server.
