Print both pages on one sheet with double-sided printing set to flip on short edge. If the inside comes out upside down on your printer, use flip on long edge instead. A plain-paper test print takes ten seconds and saves card stock.
Tips for writing the message
Start personal: use the person’s name and mention one specific thing, such as a shared memory, the gift or what they did for you.
Match the tone: playful for birthdays, warm and simple for sympathy. In sympathy cards a short, sincere line is better than a long one.
Keep the inside right for the main message and use the inside left for a photo, a quote or a note from kids.
Sign by hand: leave space under the printed message for a handwritten signature; it makes a printed card feel personal.
Frequently asked questions
How do I print a folded greeting card at home?
Download the PDF and print it double-sided with “flip on short edge” at 100% (Actual size). Page 1 holds the back and the front; page 2 holds the inside. If your printer can’t print double-sided, print page 1, put the same sheet back in the tray blank side up, and print page 2. Then fold the sheet in half so the front is on the outside.
Why is the front on the right half of the outside sheet?
When a landscape sheet is folded in half, the right half becomes the front cover and the left half becomes the back. Printing the inside on the other side in the same orientation puts the inside left behind the front and the inside right behind the back, so everything reads correctly when the card opens.
What size will my card be?
A US Letter sheet (11 × 8.5 in) folds to 5.5 × 8.5 in, and an A4 sheet folds to A5 (148 × 210 mm). The 5 × 7 in option fits a standard A7 envelope (5.25 × 7.25 in): it prints a 10 × 7 in card on Letter paper with corner trim marks, so you trim the edges before folding.
What paper works best?
Matte card stock around 65–110 lb cover (176–300 gsm) folds crisply and feels like a store-bought card. Score the fold line first with a ruler and an empty ballpoint pen for a clean fold. Photo-heavy designs look best on bright white or satin stock.
Why is there a margin guide on the card?
Most home printers can’t print right up to the edge of the paper and may leave a thin white border. The dashed safe area is about 0.2 in from the edge; keep important text and faces inside it. The guide is never printed.
Can I use my own photos?
Yes. Double-click a photo frame or press Add photo, then drag, resize and rotate it. Use the zoom and pan sliders to crop inside the frame. Photos are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded.
Can I save my card and edit it later?
The card lives in this browser tab while you work. To keep it, download the PDF or PNG. Reopening the page starts from a fresh design, so finish and download your card before closing the tab.
