Click any color in your picture and swap it for a new one, or make it transparent. Matching uses perceptual CIELAB color distance and keeps the original shading, so a red car turns into a believable blue car, not a flat blue blob.

How to use the Replace Color in Image
Add an image: drop, paste or choose a file. A sample photo of a red car is loaded to show how it works.
Click the color you want to replace in the picture. It becomes the Find color of the active color card.
Choose the new color with Replace with, or tick Make transparent.
Adjust Tolerance until the whole object changes. Use the Selection view to see exactly which pixels are matched, and Edge softness to blend the borders.
Download the result as PNG or JPG. Use Add another color to swap several colors at once.
How the color replacement works
Convert to CIELAB. Every pixel is converted from sRGB to the CIELAB color space (D65 white point), where L is lightness and a/b are the color axes. Equal distances in Lab look roughly equally different to the human eye.
Measure similarity. For each pixel the tool computes the Delta E distance to your picked color: ΔE = √(ΔL² + Δa² + Δb²). With Keep shading on, ΔL is weighted at 35 % so darker and lighter versions of the same color still match.
Build a soft mask. Pixels closer than the tolerance are fully replaced; pixels a bit farther fade out over the edge-softness range, which avoids jagged borders.
Transfer the color. The new color is shifted by each pixel's own difference from the picked color (L_new = L_target + (L_pixel − L_picked), and similarly for a and b at half strength), then converted back to RGB.
Tolerance guide
Tolerance
Matches
Good for
0–10
Only nearly identical colors
Flat graphics, logos, icons, screenshots
10–30
The color plus its lighter and darker shades
Clothing, cars, painted walls, products
30–50
A broad family of related colors
Skies, foliage, gradients
50+
Many different colors
Rarely useful: combine with "Only the area I clicked"
Tips
Use the Selection view while you adjust Tolerance: matched pixels glow pink, everything else turns gray.
Two-tone objects: add a second color card for the shadow tone if one card does not catch the whole object.
Change a background color: click the background, enable Only the area I clicked, then pick the new color or make it transparent.
White or black areas have no hue to shift. Turn off Keep shading to paint them a solid new color.
Frequently asked questions
How do I change one color in a picture to another?
Load the picture, click the color you want to change, then choose a new color in the Replace with box. Raise Tolerance until the whole area changes and lower it if neighboring colors change too. Keep shading and texture on for a natural look.
What does Keep shading and texture do?
Instead of painting every matched pixel the same flat color, the tool converts colors to CIELAB and moves each pixel by the same amount the picked color moves. Highlights stay lighter, shadows stay darker and texture stays visible, so the new color looks like it was always there.
How is color similarity measured?
Pixels are compared in the CIELAB color space with the Delta E (CIE76) distance, which matches human perception better than raw RGB differences. With Keep shading on, lightness differences count less, so shadows and highlights of the same color are matched too.
Can I replace a color with transparency?
Yes. Tick Make transparent on a color card and download as PNG. JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas would become white in a JPG.
Why do other parts of my image change color too?
They are similar to the color you picked. Lower Tolerance, or tick Only the area I clicked so only the connected region around your click is changed.
Is my picture uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing happens on your device with the Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.
