How to use the Emoji Maker
Pick a face: choose the shape and color on the Face tab, and turn shading or the outline on or off.
Add features: choose eyes, eyebrows and a mouth on their tabs. Every option shows a preview of your emoji with that part.
Decorate it with blush, tears or sparkles on the Extras tab and a hat, glasses or other accessory on the Accessory tab.
Check the small previews to see how the emoji reads at chat size on light and dark themes, or press Randomize for ideas.
Download a 128 px PNG for chat apps, a 512 px PNG for stickers, or an SVG to edit or scale.
Custom emoji size requirements
Upload limits change from time to time, so check your app's current help page, but these sizes work almost everywhere:

Tips for emoji that read well at small sizes
Check the chat previews. Emoji are shown at roughly 22 to 32 pixels, so thin details disappear. If the expression is unclear in the small preview, pick bolder eyes or a larger mouth.
Exaggerate the emotion. Classic emoji work because each one shows a single, strong feeling: big grin, wide eyes, deep frown.
Keep contrast high. Dark eyes on a light face are easiest to read. On dark or deep skin colors, switch the eye and mouth color to white.
Use the outline on light faces. A white or pastel face can vanish on a light chat theme; the outline option keeps the edge visible.
Turn shading off for a flat style that matches minimal icon sets, or leave it on for a glossy 3D look.

Frequently asked questions
What size should a custom emoji be?
Most chat apps display emoji at 22 to 32 pixels but recommend uploading a square image of 128 × 128 pixels, which is what the 128 px download gives you. Discord, for example, asks for 128 × 128 and a file under 256 KB, and Slack recommends a square image of about 128 × 128 pixels under 128 KB. Use the 512 px PNG for stickers, print or anywhere you need a larger image.
Is the background transparent?
Yes. Both PNG sizes are saved with an alpha channel, so everything outside the face is fully transparent and the emoji sits cleanly on light or dark chat themes. The SVG has no background either.
Can I use the emoji I make commercially?
The parts are original drawings made for this tool, so the emoji you create are yours to use in chats, streams, websites, merchandise or apps. Just avoid copying a protected character or logo into your design.
How do I add the emoji to Discord or Slack?
Download the 128 px PNG. In Discord open Server Settings, then Emoji, and choose Upload Emoji. In Slack click Add emoji from the emoji picker or the workspace's Customize page and upload the file with a short name such as :happy-cat:.
Why use the SVG download?
SVG is a vector format, so it stays perfectly sharp at any size and can be edited in Inkscape, Figma or Illustrator, for example to combine your emoji with other artwork. Use PNG when an app only accepts images.
Does it remember my design?
Yes, the current design is saved in your browser's local storage and comes back the next time you open the page on the same device. Nothing is sent to a server.
