How to use the Gift Tag Maker
Pick a theme: it sets colours, pattern and greeting; change any of them afterwards.
Choose shape and size: the classic tag has a punch-hole mark for ribbon.
Add names: type one recipient per line in To and your name in From. Leave To empty for blank lines you fill in by hand.
Check the sheet preview: tags are packed onto Letter or A4 with cut lines; empty spaces can be filled with extra tags.
Download PDF and print at 100% (Actual size), then cut along the lines and punch the hole.
Gift tag sizes and how many fit on a page
Counts below use the tool's 0.3 in page margins and 0.15 in gaps for dashed cut lines; tags are turned sideways automatically when that fits more on the sheet. Crop marks need wider 0.25 in gaps, so a few sizes fit one row fewer.

Printing and finishing tips
Print at actual size. In the print dialog choose 100% or Actual size so each tag keeps its exact dimensions.
Use cardstock. 65-110 lb (176-300 gsm) cover stock is stiff enough to hang from ribbon. Set the printer's paper type to cardstock or heavy paper.
Cut first, punch second. Cut along the dashed lines (or between crop marks with a paper trimmer), then punch the hole on the marked circle with a 1/8 in or 1/4 in hole punch.
Reinforce the hole. A small circular label or eyelet on the hole stops heavy tags tearing.
Write by hand. Leave the To box empty to print tags with blank lines, then fill them in with a gel pen or marker.
Frequently asked questions
How do I print gift tags at the right size?
Open the PDF and print at 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page. Each page is exactly Letter (8.5 x 11 in) or A4 (210 x 297 mm), so a 2 x 3.5 in tag prints at exactly 2 x 3.5 in.
What paper should I use?
Cardstock between 65 and 110 lb (about 176 to 300 gsm) feels sturdy and still feeds through most home printers. Kraft cardstock suits the Kraft theme; for photo-like colours use matte white cardstock.
How many tags fit on one page?
It depends on size and paper. With the tool's 0.3 in margins and dashed cut lines, a Letter page fits 8 classic 2 x 3.5 in tags, 12 tags of 2 x 2 in, 6 of 2.5 x 4 in and 18 minis; tags are rotated automatically when that fits more. The sheet preview always shows the exact number for your settings.
Can I make a tag for each person?
Yes. Type one name per line in the To box and every name gets its own tag. Tick Fill empty spaces to use the rest of the last page for spare tags.
What is the difference between cut lines and crop marks?
Cut lines are dashed outlines around each tag, easiest for scissors and for round shapes. Crop marks are short lines at the corners outside the tag, used with a paper trimmer so no lines remain visible on the tag.
Can I download a single tag image?
Yes. Download PNG saves one tag at 300 dpi, handy for e-gifts, messages or printing on label paper with other software.
