How to use the Pinterest Pin Maker
Set your brand kit: pick your main, accent, light and text colors, a headline font and your website. Templates and the current pin update instantly.
Choose a template on the Design tab, or a pin size (standard 2:3, square or long).
Add your photos: double-click a photo slot, drop an image onto it or paste with Ctrl+V. Use Zoom and Pan on the Edit tab to frame it.
Write the headline: click the text and type. Keep it short and big enough to read in the feed preview below the canvas.
Download PNG or JPG and upload it to Pinterest with a keyword-rich title, description and your link.

What makes a pin get saved
A clear, vertical photo. One subject, good light and room around it. Busy collages read poorly at 236 px wide.
A headline that promises something. Pinterest is a search engine; headlines with the keyword plus a benefit ("15-Minute Vegan Dinners", "Small Balcony Ideas on a Budget") match what people type.
High contrast text. Put text on a solid band or a highlight box, or darken the photo behind it. Thin script fonts disappear at feed size.
Consistent branding. The same two or three colors and one headline font on every pin make your content recognizable while scrolling. That is what the brand kit is for.
Your URL, small. A website footer at the bottom brands the pin without competing with the headline.
Exporting tips
For photo pins, JPG gives a much smaller file with no visible loss. For text-heavy designs with flat colors, PNG keeps edges sharp. Photo slots that you leave empty are skipped when exporting, so the download never shows the placeholder pattern.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Pinterest pin size?
Pinterest recommends a 2:3 aspect ratio, for example 1000 × 1500 pixels. Pins taller than 1:2.1 may be cut off in the home feed, and square 1:1 pins are allowed but take up less space.
Should I download PNG or JPG?
Both are accepted. JPG files are smaller and are fine for photo-heavy pins. PNG keeps text and flat colors perfectly crisp, which is better for text-only or illustrated pins. Pinterest accepts files up to 20 MB.
How big should the text on a pin be?
Most people see pins about 236 pixels wide in the feed, roughly a quarter of the real size. On a 1000 px wide pin, headline text around 70 to 110 px tall stays readable. Check the live feed preview under the canvas.
What is the brand kit?
It stores four colors, a headline font and your website address in your browser. Template elements are linked to those colors, so changing the brand kit restyles the pins you make. Changing an element's color by hand unlinks it.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The pin is drawn on a canvas in your browser and exported locally. Your photos never leave your device and nothing is stored on a server.
Can I make several pins for the same post?
Yes. Pinterest favors fresh pins, so make 3 to 5 variations with different photos, headlines or templates for the same link. Your brand kit stays the same across designs.
Why is my URL shown on the pin?
A small website footer brands the image and tells people where the content lives, even if the pin is saved or shared without its link. You can delete or move it like any other text.
