| PNG export | 750 × 1050 px | 300 dpi at the standard size |
| Cards per page | 9 (3 × 3) | Grid is 7.5 × 10.5 in, which fits US Letter and A4 |
| Standard sleeve | about 2.6 × 3.6 in (66 × 91 mm) | Fits a printed card, with or without an old card behind it |
Balancing stats for a homemade card game
If the cards are for a game, decide on a total budget so no card is simply better than another. For example, give every common card about 200 stat points across the four stats, uncommon 230, rare 260, epic 290 and legendary 320. A card with very high defense should then have lower speed or attack.
| Rarity | Suggested stat total | Suggested copies in a 60-card deck |
|---|---|---|
| Common ★ | about 200 | 30 |
| Uncommon ★★ | about 230 | 15 |
| Rare ★★★ | about 260 | 9 |
| Epic ★★★★ | about 290 | 4 |
| Legendary ★★★★★ | about 320 | 2 |
These numbers are only a starting point for your own rules. Playtest a few rounds and adjust any card that wins too often.
Ideas beyond games
- Team cards: a card for each player with their photo, position as the type line and season stats.
- Classroom cards: students make a card for an animal, element or historical figure, with real facts as stats and ability text.
- Gifts and party favours: a legendary holo card of a friend, a pet or a grandparent.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a trading card?
The standard trading card size is 2.5 × 3.5 inches (63.5 × 88.9 mm), used by most collectible card games and sports cards. This tool designs at exactly that proportion and the PDF prints cards at that size.
How do I print trading cards at the right size?
Download the print sheet PDF and print it with scaling set to 100% or Actual size. Nine cards fit on a US Letter or A4 page. Cut along the crop marks with a paper trimmer or a ruler and craft knife.
What paper should I use?
Card stock around 200 to 300 g/m² (roughly 65 to 110 lb cover) feels close to a real card. For sturdier cards, print on regular paper and glue it to card, or slide the printed card into a standard card sleeve in front of an old card.
Can I make a card that looks like a famous card game?
This tool uses its own generic frames and symbols. Copying another game's logo, exact card design or characters can infringe trademarks and copyright, so use your own names, art and photos, especially if you share or sell the cards.
Can I put different cards on one sheet?
Yes. Design a card, click Add to print sheet, then change the details and add the next one. The PDF lays them out nine per page and adds more pages as needed (up to 54 cards). If the sheet is empty, the PDF fills one page with nine copies of the current card.
What do the rarity stars mean?
They are a visual guide you can use in your own game: one star for common up to five for legendary. The frame colour changes with the rarity so rare cards stand out in a deck.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The card is drawn on a canvas in your browser and the PDF is built locally, so your photo never leaves your device.
